My itchy fingers done it again.

I've never shot a gun that uses moon clips.

For some reason they look like a pain. Do they have to be used?
You have to use moon clips or load some .45 auto rim.
I did a batch of auto rim - maybe 200 rounds - for my 25-2, and it was no trouble at all. The gun is a joy to shoot with 185 gr FMJ bullseye target loads.

The 1955 45 Target I posted was originally shipped as a 1950 45 Target to Remington Arms. It was returned to S&W and "converted" into a 1955 45 Target with a "W" mainspring" and 4-inch barrel.

Okay, now I am very envious. Looks good, how does it shoot?

Just wanted to say , I took out my 25-2 yesterday. Shot 180 moonclipped rounds and about 50 non-clipped 45 acp. Can I just say, what a PITA it is to pick them out with your nails? And some I had to get my squib rod to pop out! I'll never do that again.
Interesting to note, tho. They all fired! Even WITHOUT the clips!
I also took my 625 JM and tried firing 45 acp without clips. It had a success of about 4 out of 6. On every try. So, that one needs the clips.
And I'll never shoot either without clips.

That's good to hear, Lou. I now possess a whole bunch of moon and half moon clips. CAJUNLAWYER was kind enough to gift me a bag of moonclips. And I got to meet him face to face too. It was great to meet him and now I can put a face to his forum name. :D My pistol will be waiting for me at my FFL guy's place when I get in from the rig next Wednesday and hopefully we can meet up that evening so I can take it home and drool on it while checking it out and cleaning it up. :D
