This was a pretty fun one. This one saw a barrel shorten to 3", slabbed barrel, new crown, round butt conversion and a Novak front sight that was cut for a gold bead. Nice little fighting gun for sure.

I confess I do not find the slab-sided barrel to be aesthetically pleasing. Never the less I do admire the skill that went into it.

Ditto. On the other hand it probably took an ounce or two off the weight. Love the drift adjustable front sight. When you cut it down, what load did you regulate the POA/POI for? 158gr 38's?

We ran both a 125gr defensive and 158gr .38 and it was pretty close to same POI

I respect your view on this, but I have the opposite opinion.

I like the look of the slab sides quite well. And since something needs to be done about tbe barrel markings when a barrel is cut down, I feel like slab siding solves that problem too. And from a functional perspective, heavy barrels can stand to loose a few ounces in my opinion.

In general, I have never understood why full diameter heavy barrels became the standard and replaced the standard barrels. On a model 10, I prefer the standard barrel for both function and aesthetics, but that is a whole other subject.

I think the idea behind the heavier barrel was probably to reduce muzzle flip. As with most things related to carry handguns, it is a tradeoff.
