Alexa, what the heck is goin on?!?

What happens what when your doorbell and locks, A/C thermostat, refrigerator, entertainment center and Alexa decide they don't need you around anymore?

I know the answer.

If you want to have some fun with your friends, go to the Alexa blueprint website and sign in with your Amazon account. You can program Alexa to respond to a specific question you typed in and with the answer you typed in.
For instance, say your friend Hank comes over. Ask" Alexa, What do you think about Hank?" Alexa- " Hank is fat and stupid and drinks too much."
Of course, make sure Hank is not packing heat before you ask.

The NSA captures all electronic communications. I would never invite one of these into my home.

That opinion seems a little narrow in this day and age. If that is true then everything you ever said on a landline telephone and cellphone, wrote in an email or text, who you called when, where and for how long, every internet website you ever visited, and every letter you ever mailed that went through an optical scanner at the post office is recorded somewhere. Not to mention every tollbooth you ever passed through, every stoplight that has a traffic camera, every ATM you used or even walked by, every time you stepped into a building that has a security camera, and every move you ever made with your cell phone in your pocket is known and recorded.

Of course, you have to actually believe that you are interesting enough to be tracked in the first place. If anyone spent even two cents tracking me then they've already lost money!

Here's a little something to think about: We are all on the internet and have computers in our homes.

THEY ALREADY GOT US ANY TIME THEY WANT US.

For the govt to monitor our Alexa accounts would be redundant. Still, I wouldn't verbally plan any crimes or discuss the meth lab in the garage, you know, just in case. ;)

Thanks! I had no idea you could do that. I just did one to try it out. I am going to have so much fun with my wife and kids:D

Yes indeed, there is an unimaginably huge NSA data storage facility located in Utah (and at least several backup sites, one being here in San Antonio at Lackland AFB). It sucks up about everything. See: Utah Data Center - Wikipedia Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean that they are not watching you.

Do you have a cell phone?

Same deal. Always on unless you pull the battery, microphone can be turned on remotely without powering on the device fully.

Awww, you guys think privacy still exists, how cute!

Here's a little protip. If you're sitting around worrying if Alexa and Siri are "recording" you, I can guarantee you that nobody is listening, because you are not that interesting.

I don’t have Alexa but I have Google home and Siri on my phone.

Google Home doesn’t have a sense of humor at all ! shame...

But Siri is funny ! I remember one day, after an update, Siri didn’t speak when I asked him something. So I asked him « Why don’t you talk ? »
He said « It’s not pleasant to be sitting next to a blabbermouth while watching TV »

I laughed out loud because...I was watching TV !

"Fears about Alexa-based smart speakers sending private conversations are common. Amazon VP of public policy Brian Huseman confirmed expectations about how long the company keeps recordings, telling senator Chris Coons (D-DE) that "We retain customers' voice recordings and transcripts until the customer chooses to delete them."

Here's a couple articles on how to delete Alexa's recordings:

I hate anything that talks to me, when I use the self ckeckout at the store and it tells me to put my bread on the belt, I tell it to shut the xxxx up.

Ask Alexa if your woman was faking it in bed last night. I haven't figured out what the point is for Alexa listening in on bedroom antics and conversations.

The help lady on my computer is Cortana. Supposedly you have to give her permission before she can help. I imagine that she is well aware of my computer history.

How did it know?

I even dunno !
My iphone knows exactly where I’m going every morning and tells me how many time it will take to go to work, it knows where I’m going at my lunch break and when I go back home as well...
