Sooooo....The wife gets done early from work today and decides she would like to put up her Christmas tree,,, notice I said her tree.
Okayyyy so we get it down from the garage loft, it's a fold up job with built in lights. Quit going to multiple tree farms years ago!
Well anyway we put this thing together, three pieces snap, snap and snap,,, plug it in and only some of the lights work. So I start looking for loose bulbs, pinched wires and blown fuses,,,,even got the Fluke meter on the job, everything checks out but no lights on the top, some mid section and all the bottom lights are lit. Start jiggling around the wire, some more come on but can't get them all to light. Good thus ends the the Christmas tree lighting.
Now to me with faulty wiring this is now nothing more than a fire hazard! Fire Dept. experience kicks in,,, not using this tree.! Nope no way,,,it will burn the house down....
So now the wife decides we need to go tree shopping! Oh **** here we go,, Lowe's, Home Depot, local big name dept store and the internet!
Well now after 5 hours,,,,5 hours we now came home with a new $300. artificial, LED lighted Christmas tree and it don't even have a foot pedal to turn it on and off! had to pay extra for a timer too!
Now when we paid $175. for this last one I thought it was tooo much, but then I figured in the no needed trips and fuel used to hit the live tree places so I guess it was a good deal?
So now with inflation $300. doesn't seem to bad but the thing was made in China..... $300. Dollars for a Chinese Fake Blue Spruce Christmas tree!.....
Yeah well she gets to decorate it,,,,her tree! ;)

I don't see a "Christmas problem" here. I see a wife-control problem. :D I have a similar story involving a similar tree, acquired at similar expense, used once, yes once, and then determined to be "too big" to use the next year!

I just don't like Christmas on general principal. It is a big commercial holiday, trying to get people to spend money on things people don't need and can't afford. kids believe in a fat man in red velvet clothes that knows if your naughty or nice but they don't believe in God. and my birthday is on the 23rd. After my oldest brother informed me about the fat man in red, I was asked if I wanted a nice Christmas present or a nice birthday present.

I'm ready for the season!

Bring it on St Nick!

Well, since most of you guys are griping about
your wives and their penchant for Christmas,
then look forward to the day you're dead and
not bothered any more. Or look forward to
the day she's dead and you're not bothered
any more.

Went this past Saturday to a small tree farm w/ my daughter, son-in-law and grandson. With the little man child riding on my shoulders, we looked for and laughed a lot as we found and then bought the ideal tree! Later at home we decorated the tree. My grandson reached the top of the tree by sitting on my shoulders. We had steaks that night. It was wonderful. The next day I had to leave for work. Don't know when I will again get to see them all together. My wife will fly up to Jersey to see the other daughter, son-in-law and our two grandchildren. Our granddaughter is 3 years old. Our grandson is 13 months old. Because of distance, work schedules, we don't get to see them a lot. Once I was able to help them decorate their Christmas tree. Miss them.

Later today I will put up the Christmas tree here at the parsonage. Do so wish my wife were here. She really enjoys it. And I enjoy watching her and helping her. It really bites ... all those times I was so busy with work, in a hurry, etc. Missed out on a lot of the neat things that my wife and daughters enjoyed. Would encourage anyone with the opportunity to take advantage of what you can do now with your wife and children. Sincerely. bruce.

I really do like Christmas but find humor in situations such as posted above. You know the situations like Clark Griswold found himself in! :D
That cartoon posted just always really cracked me up though,,,had to use it!

+1. And don't forget Mom and Dad and Grandparents, if you are lucky enough to still have them.

UncleEd... sorry you failed to recognize the humor involved, but Merry Christmas to you! :)

We have a small artificial with burned out lights, also.
I found some AA battery operated LED strings that even blink on/off if you want, plus they run for 6 hours, shut themselves off and restart 24 hours after the original turn on time.
Dollar store for south of $10 for a 50 light string!
So far, so good. I even got a string for deer camp.
BTW, I drive my wife nuts with that " Not safe, I was a firefighter line too...lol. She just rolls her eyes and says whatever)

Our three kids are a little older and they don't want any presents for Christmas all they want is money or gift cards which is great to me since I can do all my shopping online and have the gift cards ordered in about 20 minutes. The problem is, it doesn't leave a warm, fuzzy feeling and there are very few presents under the tree which is a little sad. I remember back when the kids were small and a new doll or toy came out and they absolutely HAD to have it and I would drive to many stores and stand in lines and make phone calls and no one had it and I would keep trying and trying and finally find one and I would feel like "Super Dad, The King of Christmas"!

I always hated getting rid of the tree after Christmas. I didn't know what to do with it.

My aunt and uncle gave me a potted Christmas tree to celebrate my first Christmas in this house. I tried to plant the tree later but it died. My second Christmas I bought a Norway spruce in a pot. I planted it in the middle of my back yard and now it's over 20 feet tall.
