So what's the big deal? I had similar experiences 20 years ago.
My wife is a teacher - a good one in fact. However, whatever she tries to do is overruled by Administration.
Right now there is a shortage of teachers in our area. The fact is that word has gotten around about all the stupid stuff the Education Departments are doing, plus the fact that an educated person can make a lot more money in other fields, without the stress.
Kids aren't getting dumber. They have been dumb for a long time.
Wait! Wait Wait!
I'm positive I'm missing the OP's point, but I got stuck on this...
What "...fast food franchise..." has armed security?

Couldn't help myself!

I once paid for my order at McD’s with a 2 dollar bill. The manager was promptly called and was told that I was using counterfeit money. Rather than calling the proper authorities he asked me if I had any other bills, so I gave him a 5 and he returned my 2 dollar bill, along with my order. I just left shaking my head..........
I will often add change to cover the "cents" part of a transaction. My experience is pretty good as long as the cashier enters the tendered amount correctly!
