Can you cite your source for this dramatic revelation, or is it just speculation?
A Google search for United States lockdown doesn't bring up anything except people writing articles predicting it WILL happen - basically clickbait.
But hey, it's on the internet, so it has to be true, right?

"Lockdown" sounds dramatic, but in practice just means that the appeals by authorities to stay home (unless you can't) get some teeth.
If you have visions of tanks and Humvees parked at intersections, nobody being allowed to be outside, and violators getting arrested, take a deep breath and dial down your imagination. If nothing else, the US military and Guard haven't got enough to actually lock down one populous state like that, let alone 50.
Because of family over there, I'm reading the European press every day. Several European states like France have instituted nation-wide lockdowns and curfews, and what this means is that there is an increased police presence in the streets and if you are stopped and asked, you better have one of several allowed reasons to be on your way somewhere or you get a ticket for a few hundred Euros and are sent home.
As with every other measure, the idea is not to catch everybody, but to get the vast majority of law-abiding citizens to comply voluntarily unless they have a good reason not to.
The individual case isn't relevant, it's to get the overall number of people out and about reduced further.

Exactly. More misinformation by the MSM to get everyone hyperventilating. I'm really getting sick of it.
Once we come out the other side of this thing, and people look back on it and see how much misinformation and hype the MSM has pushed, I think there will be even more people with a distrust of the media.

Everyday we inch closer to a lockdown with the announcement the auto industry is voluntarily closing down on the 20th and schools almost entirely closed now it would not at all be surprising to see a Special Report announcement Sunday afternoon ordering folks to stay at home. Also Florida and Alabama need to kick those college students off the beach

Yeah, we kind of seem to be heading in that direction.
But businesses voluntarily shutting down, for multiple reasons not the least of which is CYA advise from their lawyers, is different than government getting heavy handed and imposing essentially a 24/7 curfew on non-essential movement and travel.
Kicking the kids off the beach would be another step in the direction of a lockdown, and maybe not a bad idea. Just close the beach. They do it for red tide, why not for this?
P.S. I have read that a certain segment of the Millennial generation isn't taking this seriously at all. They have adopted an attitude of "I'm young and healthy, it won't kill ME, so why should I care?" Some are even calling it the "Boomer Remover". I have to wonder if they realize that it is their parents and grandparents who are at risk - and if they even care about that?

Perhaps if we leave the southern border open it will allow the illegals to escape back to from where they came.

Wishful thinking. If this thing is even close to what it is being portrayed as, it is going to hit Mexico as hard or harder than it hits us - and their medical facilities will be overwhelmed worse and faster than ours. Expect more "undocumented persons" to come flooding over the border to get free care here that they can't get there.

The view in Mexico is that the border should be closed, as most of their confirmed cases have largely involved rich Mexicans who took winter vacations in Colorado.

If you read the fine print in these "lockdown" notices in various localities, individuals and the people they live with are allowed/encouraged to go outside for walks/hikes/runs for exercise.
Just don't hang out in groups and in enclosed spaces. When out, avoid touching surfaces as much as possible. Wash hands when ya get home. If a walk with someone you don't live with, the advice is to keep a six foot distance.

They closed parking at the beaches to reduce crowds, but they stated people can use the park and ride shuttles, walk or bike to the beach.

I've seen some recent photos of San Francisco's Bay area Caltrain or BART commuter trains where there's few people riding, since in that area people are told to stay home, and those that are riding are spaced well apart....Pubic transportation is of course still running. I think it a good idea to keep public transportation available, but perhaps reduce schedules and definitely ensure social distancing of riders.
In urban areas, many people do not own personal vehicles. Calling an Uber/Lyft is possible, but that presents its own problems, of course.
Not gonna happen since it's all good, just a common cold, according to many.
