Came across a M625-4 3" 45 Auto Model of 1989 today. Really good shape with S&W Combats on it. Also has the box. $799 is the price. I really shouldn't, but the more I think about it, the more I want it. Sadly I didn't think to take some photos of it.

Looks just like the photos in the SCSW 4th edition page 304.

Thoughts?

Why have you not already bought it?? (i'm guessing your gun fund was spent on T.P.). As LEO' stated, the grips alone are worth $300.

This -3 cost me over $800. No Combats came with it...no box...and it took over 2 years to find one at a doable price.

^ that's what it looks like right there. I think I'll call them tomorrow and have them hold it for me. I had a feeling that the price was decent on that & knew about the price on the combats.

That's not a good price, that's a great price. Almost too good to be true. If it passes the revolver check out procedure on various forums, better pull the trigger on it, then enjoy it.

Around here a -3 is a $1200 to $1400 gun without the combats. Does it come with the original Hogues? Not sure if there's a difference in value between the -3 and -4.

I got lucky and traded into my ANIB 625-3 for $775. Got it from the original owner/friend who shot 5 cylinders full. Thoroughly pissed off my other buddy who had just purchased a -3 with water-damaged box for $1300.

walk away oh no run back and snag it man. youll kick yerself in the keister for years if you let that one go. ive done it a couple times and regretted it every time. heck you could sell the stocks and have one super cheap 625 in hand.

I'd be showing pics of my new 625 by now. The combat grips are $300.

Yes they are... and $300 plush shipping would be an excellent price for a nice set on today's eBay... I paid $200 for my last set from a great member here but that was a screaming deal. The two sets I got before that on eBay were north of $350 after shipping for RB Combats in Goncalo Alves!

Beautiful M625-3... and those grips are great! The -3 is the most desired model of the M625 I believe as well. I think mine was a -6 but with a 4" barrel and a lock delete that I installed from Original Precision. I sold it to my brother when I got into 3" .44Special M24's and .44Magnum M629's. I shot mostly .45Supers out of mine with 255 grain Hard Cast Truncated Cone tipped loads rated at 1100fps from Underwood and before that from Buffalo Bore. It's a formidable "Woods-Gun" for sure and reloads with aforementioned loads were quick with the HC bullet profile and Moon-Clips from TC Custom. He carries it in the woods still. Underwood makes a .45ACP with the same bullet but rated at 935fps that will drive deep enough into any pelt in my area of NC... Pic of her below when I had her. Great gun, and if mine was ever a 3" barreled M625-3 version I'd have never sold it!

I also swapped out that front Patridge sight for a ramped orange insert steal version from Smith. The Patridge was great for picking up targets but stupid for quick draws. I lost it 3 times practicing holster draws/presentation due to snag before I replaced it. A -3 will never have that problem!

You got a terrific -3 at an even better deal. I looked for two years Plus for the same model you have and never even found one at any price on GB and local trader sites... That is how rare they appear to be. Sourcing several 3" barreled M24 and M629 Lew Horton Specials was much, much easier, to source and get deals on than any M625-3!

The bright side of never finding a -3 is that it got me into the wonderful .44Magnum and my favorite all time caliber, the venerable come back kid, the .44Special!

Walk, skip and trot away ......after you buy, of course!
So many threads about "should I have bought this..." or " is this a good price?" And to have the OP go back and it being gone!
Then , every one is saying , "we told you so!" And of course there will be , we told you so.
Even if you didn't like the gun, turning it for a profit is another option, if buyers remorse sets in. There are plenty of revolver enthusiasts to sell at a quick profit.
I for one hope you find it hasnt sold yet.
