Has anyone else seen any of the "coin shortage" signage in their local stores? Allegedly, there are fewer coins being spent as businesses remain closed under lockdown restrictions. Meanwhile, there are reports that the U.S. Mint's production has slowed because fewer employees are working as part of ongoing social distancing measures.

Walk in with the exact amount in change, dump it on the counter and let them count it out to make sure it's all there.

Wonder what they would have to say about that?

Right now they'd be thankful. My local stop-n-rob just LOWERED the price of their big drink. It was $1.08 w/tax, now a buck even. Clerk said they couldn't count on being able to dole out the .92 when handed two bucks.

Once I was thinking of casting a Silver Bullet for a Boss who was retiring.
Then somebody told me that I didn't have enough heat.
Just hold on a sec- I'll go get a 44.
No! Not that kind of heat.
Melting point for silver is 1763 degrees F.

Seems the shortage is here as well. Cashiers rounding down to the nearest dollar for cash payers.

Ok. I'll turn mine in. That should end the shortagge.
I have a five gallon water jug almost full.
Problem is I can't lift it. So at some point I'll have to piecemeal it down to the bank.
Last time it was not quite full and was, IIRC, just shy of $1,500.
Used it to help with a trip to Disney World.
This time I'll buy guns, ammo & huntin' stuff.:D

On another note. Look for the newly minted quarters with the momma fruit bat and baby on the reverse side. Might be a future collector item for the covid 19 2020.:rolleyes::D

That would make you wonder how the Lone Ranger could have cast silver bullets unless he had a blacksmith shop and Tonto was pumping the bellows like mad!

Coin shortage? Hm. Our local Mexican joint jacked up the price of all carne asada items because of a supposed "beef shortage", but no mention of coins yet.

Besides, currently I can do without coins. Who knows how many folks have had those marinading in the fetid virus-happy petri-dish of their sweat-soaked jeans pockets ... :D

Many coin shortage signs in this area. Normally buy with paper and put the change coins in containers in the car. Don't like walking around with change in pants pocket. Past couple weeks I've been taking change into stores for exact change paying.

I generally do an semi-early mall crawl, daily. I've just started to see sings in store windows, "we are currently are not accepting cash payments." The big banks must love the uptick in credit card fees:eek:

I as with others here have started keeping change in my car for when needed.

The cashier at Lowe's had to bust open a role of new quarters while giving me my change and commented, "oh look, this was a role of new Wu-han quarters". :)
