I was looking at old posts about 645's and saw comments about their serial number range. One, from a couple years ago, said most were "TA" numbers.
The one I got the other day and showed a pic of in another post has a serial number that starts with "TBW". Another post in the old thread is from a guy who says he has a 4506 with "TBR".
My gun is clearly stamped 645. What time frame would that put the making of this gun?

There was one sold at auction (Guns America)a while back with a TBW prefix.
Said it was mfg 1988.
Best,

I just found the Gunsamerica ad. I also found an ad from last year on Northwest firearms classified site. It shows the box with the gun, which lists the gun as a 6450. It is a TBW serial number.
I don't know much about the 6450 models, except all the ads talk about it being a transitional model. !988 does seem to be the year they were made.

I have 645's with the following serial number letters.

TAKxxxx - 1985
TBDxxxx - 1987
TBKxxxx - 1988
TBWxxxx - 1988
TBUxxxx - 1988 (the box is marked 6450)

Rear Sight

TBDxxxx - 1987
TBKxxxx - 1988
TBWxxxx - 1988
TBUxxxx - 1988 (the box is marked 6450)

Does your TBU have the fixed or adjustable rear sight? Panel grips, or wrap around?
Best,
Gary

I only learned about the 6450 because a seller in the classifieds had a box for one on sale(I bought it). Looking around, and reading here has been educational.
I've seen some with fixed rear sights and front sights with the red ramp insert. Mine has adjustable rear sights and solid ramp front. I've seen wraparound grips, mine has panels.
I really love the feel and balance of the gun. My range was closed for Labor Day weekend but will hopefully be open this weekend. I'll give a range report when I get to shoot this puppy.
Thanks for the wealth of knowledge you guys have. That's what makes this such a great site.

It was 80's day at the range today. I got the 645 out and I took my 659 out. This was the first time out for me with both pistols.
They both are great shooters. The 645 is soft shooting for a 45, accurate, and problem free. Well, if Anything was a problem it was getting the 8th round in it. The first 7 go it well, the 8th is a thumb buster. It feeds and extracts perfectly though.
The 659 is also sweet. Accurate, easy to shoot, a very nice gun. The mag in it is marked L.E. only, so I assume it's an 80's mag. It performed perfectly so, no problems.
I had a CZ P07 too. it's also a great shooter. All in all, fun at the range.

Hi Guys,
I'm looking at a 645 here in Australia with the serial TBE8544 so am I right in thinking it's an 87 DOB ?
It's fixed rear sight & plastic grips.
Always liked these & hoping to get one all these years later.

i still could never figure out exacts for model 645 only?tak tbr tas or whatever. just got in the smiths sale sample model from 1986.for a gun that was made for only 3 years what is the deal to get records. and i see much miss info its a 645, everything else afterward is something else. Crocketts was #TAS7586 i think. also what is the earliest number seen?RON K.

I saved this image of a recent 645 factory letter. It sold last week on GB so I'm OK, (no I didn't get it.)

I don't recall ever seeing a 645 Letter so I saved it.

Jim
