So after 2 months at S&W for repair.....I get a Fed ex email on a pending delivery from SW repair center, great I thought well worth the wait for repair....wrong....I receive the pistol, a note inside states repairs not made, obsolete item, no parts available. Oh boy, they sure could have told me that on the 3rd they they had it, not 2 months later. Oh well, decocker works but, at times it will still fire. Pistol works insofar as going bang and, pretty good as far as on target. I'm done with it though, I'm going to sell it describing the issue, guess someone could find a smith to get it right. I really would have liked to keep it but, it would just bug me. So, back in it's box it goes and, off to a new owner.

Any parts for it, other than the frame, are readily available. I can't believe it would be that hard to get it fixed if you real want it. On the other hand, if you're just sick of messing with it, just advertise "illness forces sale!"

I am not shocked at your customer service experience. I genuinely wonder how many of the kids at S&W looked at it from every angle while bouncing surprised looks off each other.

Two months ago I bought a model 669 which had decocker problems. Shipped it to S&W for repair. They sent a letter that it would cost $148. Mailed the check, and now waiting for it to be repaired and returned. I'm anxious to see the results.

I was having sort of the opposite problem with one iteration of my Franken-Smith. It wouldn't allow the decocker lever to move down far enough to perform its function. After several cycles it works now but is pretty stiff. It's ready for some range time again.
Don't give up, Arm. It can be fixed, and probably more easily than you would expect after your experience with "customer service."

OK, if the hammer drops when you use the decocker, but the trigger will sometimes still move the hammer, your issue is with the disconnector. It's not moving the trigger bar down far enough to disconnect from the sear/hammer. This may be the disconnector, it may be the ejector (which cams the disconnector down). In a rare case, it may be a worn safety body.

I'd sure think twice before sending your 559 down the road. I have one, bought new, and it's a pleasant-shooting pistol. Made before lightweight (aluminum) and lighter weight (plastic) nines it's a throwback to the old days. I like the weight (not to carry) and the adjustable sights which make it a great range gun.
Sent my 5967 to S&W about three months ago for decocker issues. Got it back and it still wasn't working correctly. Ordered parts and painstakingly fit them, now it works. S&W's legacy warranty department sucks. In addition, they swapped my cracked grips for grips cut for the decocker model. I found a proper set on Ebay and it all looks and works well now.

To reopen this sore wound... I couldn't send my 639 back to Smith with its 915 upper, so I had to fix it myself... the hard function I mentioned previously (which was with a 439 slide) accelerated to a near impossibility to function when I tried to use the 915 slide. When I came on the forum and described my problem, JohnHL suggested that I change out my sear release lever. I grabbed the one from my parts kit I'd bought, slapped it in, and the problem was solved!
The point is, a couple of little parts have critical tolerances for this whole decocker/safety thing to work right. It can be frustrating if you (like myself) are new to these guns, but these problems aren't insurmountable.
