Rest in Peace General Yeager

I'm glad.....

...that he was here for the time I have been. When I was a kid, test pilots were the coolest thing there was. I got away from that until books started coming out, especially his 'Yeager'. I'm back where I was as a kid. He was one of the coolest individuals ever. Godspeed Chuck Yeager.

Back in 1987 I attended a political breakfast. He was a VIP there but I didn't know he would be there. When I spotted him he was looking my way and caught me doing a double take. He gave me a smile.
A true American.

I have been surfing the web and am struck by the sheer number of tributes and respectful comments directed towards him.

Throughout his life he never failed to let the world know that he was a grateful American.

What a legacy he leaves.

Chuck Yeager was a true American patriot, to his core, in the very best sense of that word. Years ago, when he used to speak at the National Air & Space Museum in Washington, his love for our country came through loud and clear...he was very unabashed about that. :)

Does anyone know if flags are being flown at half staff in his honor? I can't go look.

I did a quick search and did not see any indication they would be. Maybe I'll hit Whitehouse.gov and request it.

EDIT: Message sent, hopefully there will be some action on it.
