Here's to 2020... May the New Year be better.

I agree. I had an acquaintance that died last week of E-Coli, of all things. His wife was positive for the COVID, but not sick at all. Because of that, she was unable to be with him when he died. When it’s your time, it’s your time . . .

I've been blessed with a great life, but I've had friends that had some pretty horrific health issues. One thing I learned from them is that contentment is a choice. It's something that gets chosen a minute at a time, not a year at a time.

No idea what 2021 will bring, but right now, in this minute, I can be content.

Been a pretty good year for me. My wife got the Covid but recovered fully. Kids and I never got a sniffle.

My wife left a job she hated and got a job she wanted back in the loving arms of the “Yankee government” as my friend says. As soon as she tested positive they threw 80 hours of paid sick leave at her.

My oldest spent the plague year in the New Orleans Police Academy and graduates in 6 days. He loves it (so far).

My nephew/son who lives with us bought a nice house in Colorado Springs and moved himself and my youngest son and his girlfriend out of our house.

We were lonely empty-nesters for a week until my only daughter and her spouse moved in. They both work from home and they are saving up for a downpayment on a house. I’m glad to have them.

No pets died. The roof doesn’t leak and the furnace is blowing hot.

I am two Pythons and a 645 ahead of last year. Some others too, I think.

I don’t worry about politics and I’m not concerned about the sky falling.

I don’t know what your definition of “this” is, but I don’t wallow in pessimism and conspiracy theories . . .

I "wallow" in reality.

It's not a "conspiracy theory" if somebody tells you up front what they plan to do, and they've been doing it for decades.

But since you apparently don't own guns, at least that's one less thing to worry about, I guess.

...<everything>...

Have you considered batting some of your ideas/concerns around with a counselor? Sometimes they can really help flesh things out and focus your perspective. If funds are an issue and you're by a university, many have low cost options open to the community.

A: Lost all my guns in a tragic boating accident at the confluence of the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers. Beautiful spot, terrible accident, and a true lapse in judgment.

2: I’m guessing you’re trying to discuss politics. Probably not your best idea.

b: Probably should get back to hitting your lawnmower with a shovel . . .

I "wallow" in reality.

I'm sure you'll be able to prove that when the time comes.

You wouldn't lie to law enforcement, would you?

Obstruction is a felony. So is violation of the National Firearms Act of 1934.

I "wallow" in reality...

I am well aware of what has been going on around me.

So do I focus on that, or do I do my best to change it and at the same time look to the possibility that next year things will improve.

Full of WHAT you ask...HOPE!

Your choice.

Here's the good news and the bad news of 2020 for me:

Good news:
My construction business had it's most profitable year EVER!
I'm spending much more time with my grown daughters.
I bought a Sig 365, Camo Ruger 10/22 take down, Remington 11-87 12 gauge auto, Smith M58 San Fransisco PD gun, and a Howa Hunter 6.5 CM with Vortex Diamondback 4-12X scope.
Went to Caye Caulker island in Belize and to Miramar Beach, Fl

Bad News:
I got a divorce....Oh sorry my mistake, that was supposed to be listed with the good news.

I too look forward to the new year with hope and optimism. It costs nothing.

No sense trying to dry out a wet blanket guys. Just let them dump their load of negativity on the floor and leave it at that. Your optimism won't change them, it just gives them excuse to spew more negativity - either to tell you you're wrong or convince you they're right.

Could 2021 be even worse than 2020? Sure. Could it be a great year? Also a possibility. To some extent our expectations have the ability to become self-fufilling prophesies. I choose to hope for and expect the best.

The low cost centuries old redneck therapy; the crying' tree.
Find one deep in the woods, away from ears and eyes. Pick-up a large stick and wail on tree until exhausted. Fall down crying your eyes out for as long as needed. Compose yourself, lay your troubles down at the base of said crying' tree and enjoy the long walk home. Keep your little spot secret and visit as needed.

Probably should get back to hitting your lawnmower with a shovel . . .

I see zero reason for optimism. Every day that goes by reinforces that.

I see zero reason to wallow in fear and pessimism.
Prepare for the future yet live within the day.

Hey Muss, are socks and sandals required with the bathrobe while pounding the mower?
