Alert - Congress Considering S.42 & H.R. 1446

I don't want to get put in the COOLER again so I will just say-

I will call the NRA and give them some silver on Monday.

The NRA know who and what are the enemies of the American Constitution and the 2nd and fight against them tooth and nail.

They mince no words about it, sign up get the NRA magazine- go to their website and see the truth.

I will also make the calls on Monday.

I thank the NRA for making it easy to send a messg to Pelosi urging her to reconsider her Un-Constitutional, Un- American actions against our freedoms.

Done!

I know its kind of a long shot, But I've seen where some folks think these Universal Background Checks can be invalidated legally in the courts.
Under current law, the Federal government has the authority to regulate interstate commerce. However, they have absolutely no authority to regulate or control private sales of legal goods between residents of the same state. Regulation of such sales are limited to the individual state. Many states, including mine, have very little or no regulation regarding the private sale of firearms between legal residents.
Simply put, the Feds want to stick their noses where it isn't allowed.

The problem with this is that Congress refuses to accept that there are any limitations to their authority at all. As far as they're concerned, they are omnipotent and can do whatever they wish. Screw the citizens and any law that contradicts their wishes. Wouldn't be the first time that existing laws have been ignored to meet a specific end. We shall just have to wait and see.

Time to contact your U.S. Representatives and Senators and make your voice heard.

I did. But since the Rep and Senators are left-wing party hacks, I just get a condescending form e-mail about the need for public safety and reduction of gun violence. They all think the answer is to turn law-abiding citizens into felons for exercising their constitutionally protected God-given right to protect themselves.

Now there you go again using that silly old rule of law. Shame on you ! Shame on you - we have to save the children !

Contacting your elected reps offices by email or phone is better than nothing, but a well-written, businesslike letter on paper and mailed in a stamped envelope is always best for conveying your thoughts on anything worthy of comment.

There’s not a person in any of those offices responsible for dealing with correspondence that has ever licked a stamp, and if you think the politician you’re writing to ever actually sees a missive, you’re dreaming. They get summaries. A well-written, businesslike email is equally effective, and given the recent threads here on the USPS, is much more likely to arrive before the next equinox . . .

If you've had personal experience in this area, please comment further. Otherwise, this is not worth arguing.

When I worked for the Yankee Gov't, the southeast Missouri field offices of both Senators and the Representative at the time were down the hall or up the staircase from my office. At times, depending upon who was Senator, they shared offices and staff. I was personal friends with most everyone in those offices, including the Chiefs of Staff. We'd have lunch. I still see Rep. Emerson's former Chief of Staff at the gym, since we live in the same small town. I'd sit in their offices and discuss things. And you're right. It's not worth arguing . . .

That is the absolute wrong way to go. Just sitting back and letting everything happen will do nothing but assure your opponents will always win. Not making your opinions known to your congressmen is the worse of all options.

I was frankly surprised by my last involvement with our Governor. It had to do with the ability for my wife and I to get our second Covid vaccine. She was bowing to pressure from urban areas to re-channel vaccines to areas that her constituents demanded and claimed they were not getting their fair share. In an executive order, the governor suspended shipments to our area and we were unable to get our second shot on time. I emailed the governor directly and not only got a response, but she invited me to a virtual discussion of the issue along with others who complained here in the UP. After the session, we were almost immediately scheduled for the shots and she promised to make sure no one was delayed for that 2nd shot in the future. I have to say I was very pleased and gained some respect for her ability to listen and respond.

Some of our congressional servants will not reply, but if enough pressure is put on them, they may rethink their positions. We have to be hopeful, but not silent!

Why do the other side automatically think they are right? Most all the issues have two sides and neither has to be right or wrong.it’s opinion and everybody has one. I say don’t give an inch and you are with me or against me. People are right there is much more at stake today than the 2nd. Don’t give them anything. Some will support the 2nd because they are into gun or hunting. That doesn’t make them our buddies.

What I want to know is why big money is supporting the attacks on 2nd and the Constitution in general. Any honest person wouldn’t look at 2nd as any kind of serious problem. It is strictly a political activist target. That’s why I look at anyone supporting anti 2nd as flat out enemies of the Republic. There is a reason they keep beating on it when there are many other issues more important to the people. Even if it’s scaled to public safety it would be way down on the list.

A few posts have been edited or deleted.

Keep your replies focused on the 2A issues at hand. We won’t be talking about election rigging, insurrection or non-2A agendas.

I posted this thread to make members aware of the current threats to our 2A rights, so they can take appropriate lawful actions.

Please, contact your Senators and Representatives and let them know where you stand. I don’t care how you do it. Support the NRA. They are our best hope and the big dog in the fight.

I wrote both our senators. Montana has one Democrat in the senate, but I am sure he is leery of voting with his party over his state on these. Don't matter what a dem is running for in this state, they always show lots of pictures of them holding and shooting guns. He votes for these he is pretty much committing political suicide

If you mean Testor, the NRA has him at D. He supports UBC and red flag laws. Last I checked he pretty much marches in lockstep with his party since being elected.

I guess we’ll soon find out.

In case you haven’t been paying attention, they will scrap the filibuster if it impedes their plans.
Sadly, I believe that is the plan. Should that happen, the Senate become nothing more than a slender version of the House of Representatives. :(

I would contact my senator but they made her vice president and her replacement is not much better
