News reports indicate that the Israeli military leaked or planted misinformation in various media to create the impression that ground forces were about to enter Gaza. The intent was to prompt Hamas and other terrorist forces to gather in a series of underground tunnels in order to be prepared to combat Israeli forces. Then Israeli planes proceeded to bomb the tunnel complexes and known defensive positions into dust.

Pretty smart, no matter how one might feel about the current (or ongoing) conflict in that part of the world.

Seems like a variation of our US armor burying 70 miles of occupied Iraqi trenches at the outbreak of Desert Storm. Like the Public Affairs officer, an Army Major said "What bodies?"

They have a unique way of dealing with the media as well ...

I am unsure who exactly is the "terrorist" in the Middle East or which group of folks has been wronged more by the other. I don't believe they will ever stop killing one another.

Those folks have been fighting each other for more than 5000 years. Even before religion was the key influencer. It is my belief that hate and prejudice are part of the human condition. Seems as if mankind has always looked for a reason to be "wronged" by his fellow man. And will find a reason, even if it is just in his own mind.

I recall the news media complaining then, too, that they were being used.

Tunnels work both ways. You can hide, store and plan in them or you can die in them. The NVA did the di di mau out of the underground Cambot sanctuaries in 1970. Not so much in Laos/Lam Son 719.

They're too easy to fool. In the rush to be first, they are always putting out information they haven't verified. In this case they forgot the golden rule when dealing with Israel. It's ALWAYS about Israeli lives. That agenda trumps everything else.

The best definition of a "fair fight" I ever heard is that fair fights only occur when there was insufficient planning and preparation.
