Where are our S&W revolvers being made?

I don't know why they didn't move the Remington plant out of New York when they had the chance to start over. It seems like a dumb idea to keep it there.

And when was the last time you saw Remington do something smart in the last 30+ years?

The Remington we knew and grew up with was run by gun men. People that would give away free ammo at trap shoots. or rebuild your 1100 on the spot for free.

Remington is a worn out name only now, IMO

For personal reasons I have bought nothing new from Remington since 87.

Old Remington stuff is top shelf

A couple of things that could be affecting S & W’s reluctance to move out of MA.
(1) The difficulty of getting a large number skilled, long-termed, hardcore Yankees to move away from the Northeast.
(2) The difficulty of training a new workforce.

I wonder if taxes are calculated at the at the local level of the distribution center, or where the guns are manufactured?
Could be quite a difference.

That is so true. I think it goes beyond gun politics and runs more towards business politics. Mass is hostile to just about everything. There are few business, especially manufacturing, moving into the Bay State. Even the tech business that were flourishing have started to move away. High taxes, high energy costs, lack of skilled workers, sky high real estate values are all part of a toxic business environment. But, unless they get legislated out of the state, which is surely a possibility, I don't think you will see S&W move out. They are not Remington. At least not yet.

Move to PA. Mostly a gun friendly state. You could pick Intercourse or Blue Balls as your base, depending how things are going.

Kahr Arms bought up the Pike County Industrial Park. They built a big retail store, supposedly manufacturing is supposed to move from Wooster Mass. to Greely PA.

We'll see.

It has always been a mystery to me why any company would remain in a location where the powers that be do everything possible to shut you down. I would take my jobs, tax dollars, and infrastructure investment elsewhere.

Arkansas’ doors are open—companies that call Arkansas home include SIG SAUER, Remington—Vista Outdoors, Daisy, Walther, Nighthawk Custom—Korth, Thermold Magazines, Umarex, Wilson Combat, and CZ USA!

We build the arms for the right to keep and bear.

I don't believe that it takes the same kind of skilled worker to assemble a revolver nowadays due to the use of MIM parts, CNC machining, etc. Much more hand machining and hand fitting in the old days. They could make them anywhere.

Smith needs to get out of MA entirely.
So does Henry.

Henry was in Brooklyn, N.Y. They could have moved to MA and I didn't hear about it.

Those old massive hot forges I saw can not be moved I assume. It would be prohibitive. They will stay in Springfield for these forged revolvers until they shutter and with the quality it is going the way it is maybe eventually they will.

Anything can be moved. I used to work at the Carrier Corporation Large Centrifugal Chiller Plant in Syracuse, N.Y. The building covered 14 acres. General Electric owned the building during WWII and made parts for Army tanks there. Everybody thought "they can never move all this". Those chillers are built in South Carolina now.
