i prefer Pachmayr Presentation (small size) grips on my S&W revolvers.
they provide cushioned recoil and a comfortable grip in my hand.

Yes! I have several; DA work is more comfortable with the small Presentation stocks.

I also liked them on my duty revolver (67 stainless)

Pachmayrs work well on N-frames, too

The Hogue Model 19022 Monogrip for S&W N Frame models has full backstrap coverage so the backstrap is covered or I would not be using it. My revolver came with the uncovered backstrap Hogue grip (see bottom pic) so the first thing I did was order the full coverage model (see top pic) FOR SURE! There is a world of difference in the feel in the hand as well as recoil control for me; allowing me to grip the revolver as high on the grip as possible comfortably in recoil with 230gr. +P .45 ACP Federal HST loads. It is my personal preference for now. :)

Just because it works for me does not mean it will work for you however because our hands, the slight differences in the way we grip our guns and even our shooting styles vary. You have to find what works the BEST for YOU personally.

The top pic below shows the back full coverage of the Hogue Model 19022 Monogrip grip as compared to the second pic on bottom with the Hogue Model 25000 Monogrip grip for Smith & Wesson N Frame with the exposed backstrap.

Voted Pachmayr only because I've had them on a few of my large caliber revolvers for several years. That said, Hogue Grip Sleeves work quite well on my M&P's.

Pachmayr Presentation are my preference for revolvers and 1911 pistols. Until reading this thread was not aware of fitting issues or that Lyman had bought Pachmayr. Guess I'll be looking for the older Pachmayr grips for my K/L and N frame revolvers. Sincerely. bruce.

My experience with Pachmayr is limited to a .41 Mag Blackhawk. I found they were hard on my hand and put the wood grips back on. My 4566 had the Hogue rubber grip and I did not shoot it well until I installed the factory straight grip that fit me better. I have had any desire for either since.

I generally have Rubber grips on all my carry guns.
Prefer Pacs, but have some Hogues.

I just could never got past how ugly Pachmayr grips are! I do have a set of Hogue Grips on my Redhawk and my S&W PC 629 for shooting only! When the shooting is over and the cleaning is done the wood grips go back on!

I have always preferred the fit , hand feel and looks of Pachmayr's .
But here we are just getting into the Ford Vs Chevy thing ...
They will both haul your stuff down the street ... the Chevy just looks better !

Hogue. The only pair of Pachmyers I ever had didn't fit correctly and wore out prematurely.

That being said, I generally prefer wood or even plastic grips over rubber.

I was looking at the Pachmayr Decelerator Grips, as I am always open minded to finding a different product I may like better, and noticed a curious thing on Amazon. Things that make you go hmmm?

There is a Pachmayr that says it "Fits all N Frame Models with Round Butt" and one that says "Fits all N Frame Models with Square Butt". The interesting thing I noticed was in the difference in the reviews between the two models. There seems to be quite a difference and I wonder why?

Pachmayr 05148 Decelerator Grips, S&W N Frame Round Butt:

51% - 5 star
15% - 4 Star
10% - 3 Star
7% - 2 Star
16% - 1 Star

Pachmayr 03292 Gripper Grips, S&W N Frame Square Butt:

75% - 5 Star
12% - 4 Star
5% - 3 Star
1% - 2 Star
6% - 1 Star

Hogue 19022 S&W K, L, N, X, Z Frame Round Butt Rubber Tamer Grip reviews:

86% - 5 Star
5% - 4 Star
5% - 3 Star
2% - 2 Star
2% - 1 Star

Honestly, whatever fits your hand and balances well. I have both brands on several firearms. I prefer the rubberness of Hogue, but some of the designs of Pachs work better.

I'm not one to choose brand X over Brand Y. And such and such is the greatest ever, and anything else is junk - bla, bla, bla.

If something works for me, I use it. If it doesn't, I don't.

Pachmayr Grippers and a couple of Presentations on my Smith revolvers, but four of my K frames have the discontinued Uncle Mikes which I think are the best.

I have two recently manufactured Smith revolvers with the new rubber grips, very comfortable.

The first thing most of us did when we got our K frame was to ditch the Magna grips and put in Pachmayr Gripper's. Some others kept the Magna's but added a Tyler T grip. The minority kept the factory Magna grips. Usually, those were the cops who would read a two day old newspaper left in the lounge rather than buy a current one. The Pachmayr grips were the only ones authorized because they have the little cut-out on the bottom so the serial number could be read at the range when we qualified.

Uncle Mike's are a very close second. I have a set on my Model 64 now (not my old duty 64. Sadly, I sold that long ago). Truthfully, I shoot just as well with them as the Pachmayr but I do prefer the look of the medallion on the Pachmayr.

Wood looks the best but the Pachmayr makes the gun shoot like a laser beam for me. In the end, that's all that matters. I have kept the wood on a couple of vintage Smith's, but I hardly ever shoot those anyway. They're more for admiring than shooting.

I used to swear by pach's, until I tried Uncle Mikes. Now all of my round butt smiths have Uncle Mikes. I have a set of Hogue's on an SP101 and they're a darn sight better than the factory grips.

Neither.

If it ain't wood, I don't want it, except...

These Bianchi Lightnings are sort of cool on my '58 Chiefs Special Airweight.
