Mrs.Chad went to JoAnn Fabric this morning for some girly stuff and then stopped at Walmart for cleaning supplies. She's a smart woman and knows better than to ask if I wanted to go. :D

When I go to a store, I'm on a mission. I know what I want, grab it, pay and get the heck out. I can spend all weekend at a gun show and an hour at an estate sale, but I hate shopping in a retail store. My dear bride is different. She's very creative and loves to sew, craft, make quilts and do counted cross stitch. Her trips to JoAnn or Michaels can last hours.

It seems I missed out on quite the spectacle today! When Mrs. Chad got home, she told me there were a couple of goats at Walmart. I replied, There's always more than two old goats in Walmart: What's the big deal?

Seems these were real live genuine baby goats - the four legged kind! She said a well dressed couple were walking around the store and each of them was holding a baby goat in their arms. One was asleep and the other one was bleating non-stop. I asked if they were possibly "mental health" animals. Nope... no vests, no diapers - just nekked baby goats! She also told me no one challenged them.

This Walmart has a large grocery section, including a produce area with all types of bulk fruits and vegetables. It's not like we live out in the boonies somewhere. The county we're in fairly affluent and has a population of over a million people. I'm not sure how it's OK to walk around a grocery store with your livestock, but apparently it's OK today.

Personally, I would have said something to the couple. Sometimes I can't help myself...

- Those are some ugly kids you got there!
- That goat meat IS fresher than fresh!
- Looks like one of you has a Faun in your family tree!
:D

Mrs. Chad is glad I wasn't there.

I checked the web and it seems this isn't that unusual after all. Too bad Mrs. Chad didn't snap a photo…

And I thought that she saw some old cars! :D
Speaking of that, I'm just outside of the "Motor City" (where the weak are killed and eaten) and we've got the Dream Cruise coming up.

In the last few weeks, I've seen a bunch of Vette's, custom Mustangs, classic muscle cars (Including a Super Bee), Ferrari's, Maserati's, a couple of Lamborghini's, an Audi A7R with rear tires 2 feet wide, a Duisenberg and countless restored antiques on the road. The only reason I know what most of them are is I caught up to them at a traffic light! It's been hot this week and I actually saw Santa Claus on a Harley without a helmet. I thought to myself, there goes Christmas!

The actual Dream Cruise has been going on for years and I've alway stayed as far away as possible because of the crowds and traffic, but it's fun to see those cool rides on the road. I have no doubt some are worth more than our house. Good thing I wouldn't be able to get in or out of most of 'em, or I might lose my mind and lust after one!

Since I've been out in the SW, I have learned a few Spanish Words.
Some I really like, like Bosque. That's the treed area along a River.
Then there are the Food Words.
One of my Favs there is Cabrito.
Baked Baby Goat! Yes!

Cabrito! Slow cooked with onions and peppers and spices!

Not baby goats, really. More like weaned young goats, the excess of your herd's spring crop of offspring. Usually ready for the barbacoa (another great Spanish word, thoroughly Anglicized as "barbecue") along about the same time as the melons and fruit crops are harvested. Great time for a family get-together, or a neighborhood block party. Everybody brings a side dish, set up a large tub of ice for the watermelons and another one for the cervezas (another fine Spanish word meaning "beer"). A traditional horno can be used for the cooking (another Spanish word meaning outdoor oven), but a large tabletop slow cooker does a good job.

No goats? A young lamb works just as well!

Bienvenidos! Mi casa es su casa! (Welcome, my home is your home).

Our local Bomgaars allows customer's dogs, but have not seen others critters. The store does have baby chicks in water troughs in the spring.

Where are some of these stores? I'd like to take our Jack Russels for a walk about in one of them.
Wait till it sees a squirrel sized ground hog on somebody's shoulder.
I'll need to make sure my phone is charged up.
