I'm considering selling my 686/CS1 3",2M stamped, excellent condition with original box. Is there a reliable place on line where I can obtain a valuation? Thanks in advance.

I like to check completed listings on Gunbroker when determining values. That's a desirable gun.

An ANIB 3" 686 CS-1 recently sold for $2551 and change. Another brought $2256. 4" guns don't bring as much, but are still sought after.

Prices are regional. If you sell locally, it probably won't bring that much. Here in Michigan, I think you'd have a hard time getting $2K selling face to face.

Thanks. I do follow GB,however, there have not been any 3",CS1's that have sold there recently.

These are the two I was referring to. Their search engine is finicky. Make sure your search includes "CS-1", not just "CS1".

He is on it. I'd be shocked if you could get $2k FTF in a private sale. You may get $2k if you can find a reputable shop to let you put it in consignment, but you will pay them 10-15%.

Thanks to all for the "Completed Auctions" suggestion. That's exactly what I need. I will probably give this to one of the better Consignors on GB (thinking Keystone Arms or Bryant Ridge). Both charge a 15% commission. Local gundealers up here in VT want 20% and have little or no knowledge of how to sell any gun that is not plastic. Thanks once again.

Dunflyin,
I think you've got a pretty desirable variation of the 686 there, and I think many of the members here would welcome an opportunity to give you what you want for it.
I know I'd be thrilled to see photos of it and what you want for it. You can always get rid of it on GB if it doesn't sell here.
My $0.02
Respectfully,
Mark

I've been looking for a 3" CS-1 for years. I'd kill to get one! Unfortunately I am too cheap to pay the price necessary.LOL

I had never heard of them several years ago and found two locally within two weeks of each other! I should have kept both but sold one to a forum member to offset the cost of keeping the other one. I still have it with box etc. Sort of shocked at those GB prices.

Be aware some of the CS-1's were never delivered to U.S. Customs. The guns delivered to U.S. Customs all came with the rubber Pachmayer grips, not the wood grips like the one sold on GB above. Also all the actual issued guns have the M2 stamp, signifying they and been retro fitted at either the factory or by U.S. Customs armorers at the national Firearms and Traning Centere, Ft. Benning, GA>
