Sorry, I think they've closed it now.
Yes, they have insurance. This was just to help with sundry expenses like driving back and forth and overnight stays. People's generosity with this has been very helpful.
We recently had a similar outpouring of support up here (north of 49) The director of one of our gun orgs. was diagnosed with throat cancer. (That it involves a gun org. is somewhat secondary, though, so this isn't "political". I hope it's OK to post here.) The only treatment avail. on our national medical system is chemo, which is pretty horrible. Immunotherapy (Pembrolizumab) is approved but at $10k per session, would have required Rod to mortgage his house. His assistant quickly arranged a funding drive and they raised $100k in 60 hours!
To say he was gobsmacked would be an understatement. He talks about the immunotherapy at about 8:10 in the video he posted to say "thank you."
