FedEx carelessness...

About 10 days ago I sent my P320 back to SIG Sauer in New Hampshire to have the free trigger upgrade performed. Two days ago, SIG emailed me to advise that the pistol had been serviced, had been shipped to me via FedEx 2-day air, and that an adult signature would be required upon delivery.

I worked today (Friday). When I got home very late this afternoon, there was no package waiting at my condo door, of course...but there was also no notice of attempted delivery.

Had the FedEx driver not yet come to my building? Using the tracking number SIG provided, I went on FedEx's website, where I was shocked to see that my pistol had been delivered and signed for at 11:37 this morning. The name listed for the person who allegedly signed for the package was not mine.

I called FedEx immediately, and was lucky to get through to a real human being. She understood the gravity of the situation, and told me they would attempt to contact the driver, and would get back to me.

I decided to look around my large, three-story condo building, starting with the main entrance (which I never use). And there, sitting on a table in the lobby, where dozens of people pass through every day, was a box from New Hampshire addressed to me. Thank heaven I have honest neighbors!

I called FedEx back, and the customer service person I spoke with told me they would close out the case, since the package had been found. I told her that is definitely not acceptable, and I want to speak to someone about this. She said she would pass my request along...

I don't think my blood pressure has come back down yet...

Wow...

Good outcome for a terrible situation, I had a fedex problem two weeks ago that came down to a driver or fex lying, black and white, mine worked out glad yours did also.

The package was shipped Adult Signature Required, it was signed for. What did Fed Ex do wrong? It was not restricted to your signature.

I'm not defending FedEX, they have done some whoopers for me.

Well, for starters the driver apparently lied about who signed for it. The name was a misspelled variation of my real name, and there is no one who lives here by that name. (Let's say you were expecting a package addressed to Pawngal, and saw that someone allegedly named "P. Pawn" signed for it...that's essentially what happened here.)

Secondly, it should have been delivered to my home for me to sign for it, not left in the lobby of my building where anyone could simply pick it up.

Still shaking my head over this...

A friend used to live in sketchy part of town and sent his M66 to S&W for service. It was left in his outside mailbox, in plain sight of any passers by. No signature, in spite of “adult signature required” box being checked.

I'm sure you can find a couple of us here to sign for it next time, need our addresses? We'll check it out and let you know how good a job they did fixing it up. Kidding aside, I've had the same thing happen or have it left beside the post lamp in the yard.

The same thing happened to me with Fedex as well. From Sig…supposedly signed for by me. I was an hour away at the time with my son at a College visit.

I was told that most services are not complying with the signature requirements because of Covid…that excuse for everything. I just got a Zev back from UPS and they made me sign.

Why is this(insert your choice) happening?

Covid…

Years ago when prices were right I often bought guns online from Century Arms. There was always a signature required. If I wasn't home the driver left a sticker...yada, yada. No follow up by the customer and it went to the local warehouse for a few days.

One year we went on vacation for a week. As it turned out my package was shipped early (I didn't expect it). When we got home there were 2 boxes on my open front porch. One contained an AK47 and the other 1000 rounds of ammo for it.

First time ever the driver left it with nobody home. Yeah, good neighbors for sure. I hate to think the consequences if some kid found it....

Meanwhile I had to keep going to a UPS location half an hour away because one UPS guy wouldn't leave my $20 order of coffee in the mail room like everyone else as it was "unsecure".

I seen a gun left at someone’s door step. It was a commando rifle not a good thing to find. The guy was pizzed. This was thirty years ago with FedEx.

This past week FedEX left a package of two magazines hung on my mailbox about 200 yards from the house. I checked the website and it was "delivered". I looked at all the doors and didn't find it until I went to the mailbox!

I think in this day and age..if you are getting shipment. Get the tracking and sign up for the notification. U can get a sense when it is shipping.

You can request a hold at the local terminal. Sucks because my ups and fed ex is 40 minutes away.

You can report it to FedEx all you want but you can't make them care.

Recently Got a USPS signature required package.
My Mail Lady says she can’t hand me the stylus to sign her tablet thing, she signs for me!
But as I posted, it was UPS who threw my coffee pot into my neighbors backyard.

If you want a real FedEx Carelessness example.....
This was before Covid so no excuses.
Small package with about $10,000 in gold bullion left outside of the door when the business was not open. It was shipped Adult Signature Required.
At that time FedEx was a huge joke around here. It has improved somewhat.
