FedEx carelessness...

I placed an order with Cabela's about a month back for some camo bibs. They disappeared into the abyss of Fed Ex incompetency. Called customer service, now there is a misuse of the term, and got the usual Covid nonsense. That is not an excuse I will accept for theft, destruction or simply poor service. When I saw that about the packages in the Georgia ravine I wondered if that is where my bibs are.

General FE incompetency was perfected LONG before the Covid nonsense-excuse was developed, but hey, you can't use the same old excuse year after year. New material is always needed! ;) :D

You all realize that the reason we have to ship handgun express through ups and FedEx was because of excess theft of these items in the late 90's….by their employees.[emoji1787][emoji2957][emoji12][emoji41]

The same thing happened to me with Fedex as well. From Sig…supposedly signed for by me. I was an hour away at the time with my son at a College visit.

I was told that most services are not complying with the signature requirements because of Covid…that excuse for everything. I just got a Zev back from UPS and they made me sign.

Why is this(insert your choice) happening?

Covid…

UPS said I refused delivery of a camera at my home. At the time stated I was giving a presentation in front of my boss and some very unimpeachable witnesses. When I called out UPS on it the phone got real quiet when I suggested that if they were going to tell lies, don't make them stupid ones.

As for not complying with signing requirements, I wonder if that could be fixed by pictures of a Fedex exec being led away in cuffs by folk with ATF on their vests.:D

Several years ago I bought a large painting for my collection. It measured 6X8 feet. FedEx was supposed to deliver it to me on a Friday. It wasn't delivered. They lost it. No, they didn't lose it, they just couldn't find it. How do you lose a crate that big? That was my almost first stroke.

I called the following week, and was given the good news. The crate had been found, delivered, and signed for. A couple of little problems; I was on my way to San Jose to testify in an old homicide case and wasn't home, my son was at work and wasn't home, and I had no idea who signed for it. It apparently was delivered to the wrong address. That was my almost second stroke.

They eventually recovered the painting. I just wonder who works for FedEx.

...I just wonder who works for FedEx.

Well, they don't hire rocket scientists as delivery drivers, that's for sure. The person who left my P320 in the lobby of my condo building was being recorded from three different angles, on three separate security cameras. It's a cinch he walked in the front door, put the package on the table, and left...when the package clearly instructed him to deliver it to my home and obtain an adult signature.

I emailed SIG about this, by the way...I'm curious whether they will pursue a complaint from their position as the shipper.

^^^^This. They can't hire enough help now that we Boomers are retiring by the metric ton, and unlike meat-packers and housing contractors, they really can't hire illegals. Even a dud of a driver gets more done than no driver.

Exactly right. I was complaining to one of the contractors I work with about the quality of some of his hands. His reply to me was {paraphrased of course} "a half behind employee is better than no employee at all".

I just recently had an order set up for 1 day delivery via FEDEX from near Memphis to near Nashville. Order date was 11/22. Today 11/28 the package tracking number shows it to be enroute from Henderson CO to Denver CO. Things can get crazy sometimes lol.

When I closed on My house in Colorado I did it remote with a broker/realtor/notary. Was told My check would be sent FEDX. Waited three days and then checked the front door which I never use and whalla, guess what. Big Fedex envelope stuck in the screen, right next to the doorbell. Nice way to find several 100K. Porch pirates in CO would have had it in minutes.

My FedEx Story:

A few years ago, on the occasion of my birthday, My daughter ordered a package of LIVE lobsters and clams from a company in Main. they shipped FedeEx.

Eventually.

On the evening of the 5th day they finally got there. A knock on the door about 7:30 PM and there the driver stood with a big grin on his face. I asked him what he was grinning about. He said I think I know what's in here and I know you have been anxiously awaiting it's arrival.

I said yes I have...For five days.

Him: they are LIVE. Big grrin.
Me: They WERE 5 days ago. You can take them with you when you get your fat *** off my front porch.
Him: You mean you don''t want them?
Me: would you eat a 4 day dead Lobster?

He was not grinning now and he could see that I was grinding my teeth and balling up my fists.

He took the package and made a hasty retreat.

A little back story, I had never had a FedEx delivery show up on time. Some never did show up.

So, I call the company that sent it to me and they were very sorry. Said they never had a problem with FedEx before. I told them I never had anything but problems.

I was told they would re ship. I told them that if they were going to use FedEx to just forget the whole thing. they will never get here in time, and hung up.

A couple of days later the package arrived. A supervisor was with the driver (different driver). Te talked on and on...and on...and on. When He finished I suggested he watch the movie Castaway with Tom Hanks. It's about a FedEx supervisor who definitely had the customer concept. Then I took my package in the house.

I cooked those lobsters and clams that night and I gotta say I never had better, before or since.

After word:
I can't account for it but FedEx has really straightened up their act since then. I guess I'll never know if my little episode had anything to do with it and I don't really care. I'm guessing there was a new face in the division managers office.

They required overnight shipping for handguns in the late 80's or early 90's.
