Lee Barner and I went to the gun show in Paris TN. today Lee made a couple of deals I found nothing that interested me. As soon as we left the show my LGS called to let me know they got the M&P 10MM in if wanted it they would hold it for me. So we went right over and picked it up.

Most places posting prices online are showing $619 for the longer no safety version 13387. Some offer free shipping.

Willing to tell us what you paid?

I am wondering about the range report and review. Just being a S&W 10mm puts it on my to buy list, but I would like to know more about it.

Nice, congrats! On a side note, could I remove the tall sights and just put the standard height Trijicons for a M&P .45 on the new 10mm? I’m not a red dot guy on my handguns.

Now I know what's next. Gotta fix the sights, looks perfect otherwise. Can't wait to hear how it shoots.

rang report

Got out to shoot the 10MM today. Shot 30 rounds of sig elite 180gr FMJ at approximately 10 yards at the paper target, and 10 rounds of sig v-crown 180gr hp at the steel from around 7 yards.
The trigger pull is 4.5 LBS average on my Layman with a little take up and a good break. The recoil is stout but manageable. Overall it is a very good shooting gun. It will not let me post a picture of the steel target I will try latter.

Removing the front sight on any MP pistol is very hard and difficult even with a sight pusher! They must have a gorilla at the factory hammer them in but would not advise doing it yourself. The rear sight is a hit or miss. I had some come off easy others were a nightmare to get off. There is also a plunger there so need to be careful or it can fly off.

looks like you got the 4" version and the ammo you bought are pretty much designed for two legged creatures so they are watered down. Full power loads I can only imagine that will kick like a mule.

I shoot the XDM 10mm. I load full power handloads, not FBI Lite. XDM is not painful, but you know it's more than a .40 or a .45. i'd like to give the Smith a whirl with spec loads and see how she kicks.

I've shot the Sig 180 FMJ. Haven't chronoed anything, but it kicks about like my handloads. Box on the Sig ammo claims 1250 fps, and I remember reading that somebody chronoed it at 1200+ out of a four inch gun. I believe the SIG is full power or close to it. Sig definitely hits harder than the R-P stuff I shot; the R-P is Lite.

Looks DRT ;)

I have the same firearm and also shoot full power loads and even a few nuclear loads. The XDM-10 handles the recoil well. I have chronied (is that a word?) the SIG FMJ in my 4" M610 at 1,207fps which is pretty decent 10mm velocity for factory ammo.

The SIG V Crown 10mm JHP is watered down some, but not like most are. 624 lb/ft is still plenty stout, even for a really fat dude. 10mm 180gr Elite V-Crown JHP Ammunition box of 20 | SIG SAUER

Congrats on the 10mm. Not a Smith but I love my EEA Witness, my only knock, it's heavy. How much do the M&P weigh loaded?

I too have one of these. Bought the first one I saw at the gun show after they said it was coming out. Mine is the Wonder Finish, looks almost bronze in color. Guessing yours is also. I do wished it was a 5" barrel, seems like it is 4 1/2". My biggest gripe is the front sight is milled in the slide, no easy way to add night sights. Sucker is dead accurate though.

I did upgrade the factory recoil spring. The factory one was way too light and you could feel the slide and frame having a disagreement. I don't know if the light spring was intentional or a mistake by the person assembling it at the factory.

Can't find one in my area. Even on-line everything seems to be pre-order.
Guess I'll just wait for a while.

Well, I just finished my 1013 conversion. Have to get to the range and give it a whirl. That should scratch my S&W 10mm itch for a few weeks...:D
