Ole Joe Clark
Absent Comrade
Good Morning Ya'll,
It's a cloudy 48 degrees in the Heart of Dixie this fine Sabbath Day. I hope and pray that all of you are doing well. I woke up this morning about 4:30 am, and that is a blessing to start the day off with. I have the remnants of breakfast coffee at hand, so I am attempting to share my thoughts today. Sometimes it seems that my thoughts are like the looped music that we are forced to listen to when we are put on hold by the auto attendant (computer) at the Doctor's office. But, please don't hang up on me, I will do my best not to repeat myself.
It has been really busy here, the MBH and oldest Daughter have been Christmas decorating and shopping. I refuse to go on those shopping sprees, it's above my pay grade. Only Management Level family members get to participate, and I am just the Designated Driver and Laborer.
I labored in the yard a couple of days, and still have quite a bit of leaf raking to do around the corners and places that the mower and bagger can't go. On Thursday I had the grocery buying chore, and Doctor appointment, and a couple of hours in the yard afterwards. I was, as the Old Folks used to say, "give slap out" when I came in the house. The MBH said I stumbled into the house, ate supper, stumbled to the shower, and stumbled to bed.
I got a good report from the heart Doc. He said I had one, and it was still doing it's job, I'm glad of that. It's been running for over 78 years and is still doing ok.
Yesterday, we visited with my 90 year old Sister, Betty. It was a joy to see her. My niece has been rather protective of her Mother, (my Sister) since all the virus junk started, and I don't blame her. We took some photos and just had a great time.
I didn't mention this last week, but on Saturday, Dec 11th, the MBH and I were exposed to the Covid mess. On the spur of the moment, we had invited some close friends over for potluck and cards. She had a nasty cough, and I questioned her about it, and if she had a fever. On the following morning, Sunday, I got a call from her, she was at a Doctor's office, and had tested positive for covid. :-(
So, we stayed home from church and away from everybody. I got to eat all the good food the MBH had prepared for the Church Christmas lunch last Sunday. We both had received the moderna (spelling??) shots, and on Tuesday tested negative for the virus.
Needless to say, it's been a busy week, and I have thanked God for every wakeup. We also thanked Him that we didn't catch the virus. Every day, every heartbeat is a gift, and I thank Him for those gift and the greatest gift, His Wonderful Son.
Enough!!
I am so blessed!
Have a wonderful Sabbath, and a Merry Christmas!!
Leon
