Dirty Gun Pic Thread

i was brought a S&W 686 2 1/2 inch that the owner was having accuracy issues with. The outside was not to dirty but the bore looked like a smooth bore due to leading.
I used a 45 caliber bore brush and Lewis Lead remover to get the lead out.
I felt something hit my leg and found strands of lead. The 22 is for comparison.
Took 2 hours to get clean.

Target date

I've been tossing this one around for awhile now but PatriotX's 'Dirtied Up 629s' thread gave me the nudge to start this thread. I've always appreciated pictures taken of revolvers that are actually used. Sooty cylinders and frames are like Ginger and Mary Ann after a mud wrestling match. I'd like to see some of y'alls guns at the range or in the woods waiting for that buck to come along. Throw in your targets too if you had a really good day. Here are a few of mine to start.

629-4 8 3/8 with a 629-4 PowerPort & 442 in the background

Look Ma! No fliers! :D

629-5 Extreme Hunter

629-6 PC Magnum Hunter Plus

Dated a bit ahead of it's time?

Unfortunately, I don't own any dirty guns. I clean 'em when I get them home, and they are always perfectly clean and functional.

So I can't offer any pictures. The subject matter doesn't exist in my venue...

John
Same here PALADIN, mine aren't dirty long enough to take a picture, I'm OCD. lol
Even though I have several that are historically significant, some get shot, some never will because you can never "un-shoot" a gun that's never been shot outside the factory? Mine do get shot (some), but I'd say I'm more of a collector than a shooter.
As far as Kate Upton, I have a beautiful wife I get to sleep with every night, so I don't have to phantasies like the OP. lol

Thanks Lou. With that Leupold on it I'm good for about 10 rounds and can't hold it steady to save my life. I ended up putting a Burris FFIII on it and I'm good for more like 50 rounds. It has an unbelievable trigger and shoots like a laser. This target was at 25 yds.

Wow, that’s the longest barrel I have ever seen. You could use it as a jack handle. It and you sure can shoot. Great group.
I’m with Paladin, I never thought to take a picture of a real dirty gun and I clean them when I get home.
Guess i will have to start. Don’t think I’ll get them as dirty as some on here though, and I shoot reloads with Unique. 😂

Thank you sir. That 12" barrel was the longest S&W offered until the PC 460 & 500s came along.
I started using HiTek (powdercoated) bullets a couple of years ago and they shoot just as accurate as the uncoated ones but I sure missed the smoke and the sooty guns. The last order of 2000 from Summers I included 500 of the uncoated and I'm enjoying them so much I might just go back to them exclusively. :D

I dirty my guns when I shoot em, alot! Mostly my repeat offenders lately have been my R8 and 29 snub.

Here's my 4" 29. Another favourite . Dirty of course.

This is my aftermath from my 1911 vs. 44mag revolver shootout. Although this 45 is a pleasure to shoot - it stood no match to the 44 with a red dot.

My 929. The beast.

The 686 with a millet red dot. This was 1k rounds. The revolver would clean itself when I took it in and out of the bag. Lol.

Have mercy Lou!! You get your money's worth out of your range time. :D:D You can tell a real shooter when he spends more time shooting than cleaning. Your DA targets are every bit as good or better than my SA targets at 25. Thanks for contributing buddy!!

Just curious: those oil-soaked stocks, can they be put in some oil-dry absorbent sand, like you put on spilled oil in the shop or garage and let it suck the oil out? Not that kitty litter type stuff, but there's a sandier type; I think I bought some at Graingers or some HVAC vendor. I only have a coffee can of it; I don't know the brand name.
