CSX impressions and issue

I'm glad it worked for you and you got through it safely.

As for sticking mags, I have to point out Glock, possibly the worlds most widely distributed handgun, are notorious for sticking fully loaded mags. Has not hurt their sells.

I dont own any Glocks, but that would be a factor for me.

Whether that feed ramp works correctly now or not, it is not common for a ramp to look like that. I believe that is out of spec.

To fix it properly will require either re-cutting it or grinding on it. That could change dimensions which then could make it unreliable. This is a warranty issue. Just because it works now does not mean that it will still work in the future or with all ammo types.

As to mags dropping free, I believe the correct factory set up is for empty mags to drop clear of the grip. Half-partial to fully loaded mags should stay in the gun. Dropping a loaded mag when you did not intend to do so (accidental mag release) is no bueno.

If you want a loaded mag out of the gun, strip it and drop it, or retain it. Your decision. If you don’t want it out of the gun, but for some reason it is not fully seated, Tap/Rack.

Double stack mags that expand slightly outward when loaded but are slightly thinner when empty do this when in a properly sized grip.

While there are numerous different dogmatic malfunction clearance dances specified for different types of malfunctions, KISS. Ultimately, you must get a new cartridge in the chamber.

Obvious stove pipe? Lock slide to the rear, bump mag, roll pistol to right and dump problem. Release slide to reload.

All others? Remove and stow mag; roll pistol to right and rack 3x; reload with different mag. If that doesn’t fix it, your gun is likely broken. Go to Plan C.

That feed ramp doesn't look right, for sure. I would be interested to know how the bore looks. S&W has been turning out guns with matt grooves for a while, especially on the M&P series.

Will just use a Dremel, a polishing tip and some Flitz.

So I polished the feed ramp today. No difference in appearance, really. Mine has hash marks for sure but it FEELS super smooth, so Im'a gonna run her tomorrow (hopefully at least 150 rounds) and see how she does. If all good, I will leave it alone and run it. Pics below. Before (1st photo)/After (2nd Photo) (a little Flitz left behind on the "after" photo):

I am not sure if you are trying to give me advice. If so, thanks, I think I know a thing or two about malfunctions and how to clear them. If you are trying to say that it is “normal” for loaded magazines not to fall free when ejected, or that it is a desirable feature, then every one of my handguns is faulty, according to that standard, as all of them allow a full magazine to drop free when the magazine release button is pressed.
The CSX is the only currently made S&W that interests me, and I approached it from the position of WANTING to like it. I hope that people who get theirs enjoy them. I did not care for it. Hopefully S&W or the aftermarket world will work out the trigger and bulging magazine issues, and one can find a home in my collection.

How long did you polish, and at what RPM? Did you have a chance to shoot it? 200 rounds through mine with no issue.
