CHICKEN HELP

I have bought 11 chickens total 3 -6 month old and 8 dibbies. The question I have is the sex of the big chickens. They are rhode island reds and for the life of me can't find any thing to tell me how to tell the roo's from the pullets. If you have pictures for different stages of developement that would be great or can tell me how to tell the difference. thanks Doeboy

Keep an eye on them, over time you'll notice that the pullets will tend to complain about things, and want to take your debit card... I hope this helps!

I do not think it is allowed to ask them under Federal Law some king of sexual harassment or discrimination thing, you better check with their Union Rep.

You put them on a motorcycle. The one in back is the hen.

It's as simple as knowing where to look & what to look for. The hatchery guys can sort day old chicks by looking. Ask at your local farm supply & they should be able to show you how to sort them.

Is the concern that you got all boys and there won't be any eggs?

Seriously are you raising them for food, eggs, or just entertainment?

At 3-6 months, it should be obvious which are hens and roosters. The hens will be ready to lay by 6 months. There is a lot of difference in the plumage of RR - the roosters will have darker necks and tail plums. Chickens are fun. I have one hen that crows like a rooster.

Thanks to all yal'l after the big storm the pile of wood we had holding them in under the coop blew over , man what a storm, anyway the chicken were out. I let them run all day around the yard wondering if the neibors dog was going to kill them all day when I got home they were still there. There was chicken poop every where! While I was checking out the damage the "Hens" that I bought were having one heck of a fight. After the fight they stood bowed up beak to beak for about 20 seaconds. They are roos and got to go. The wife was not happy. When we got them in the sun we noticed the green feathers in the tail. She took them back quick and in a hurry. So now we have 8 dibbies and a long wait till the eggs start coming. Doeboy

Reminds me of one time we were driving around in the country and came
to a farm that had a sign out. FREE KITTENS. Of course my daughter
pleaded oh daddy please stop. He had two left. He thought one was a
male and he knew the other one was a male. She just had to have both
of them.

We had moles digging in our lawn so as the Kittens grew I thought they
were eating moles. But no, on April Fools Day they both had a batch
of kittens. We never knew who was the proud father, but we had our
suspects.

Well, I always tell them apart by if they are fried, bar b qued or roasted.
