I won a custom model 15-3 on GB. The master gunsmith was Tommy Shimoda in 1979. He put a cut down 3" model 27 barrel on a model 15-3. I have a 3" 66 and always wanted a 3" model 19, but they are hard to find and cost too much for me. Now I have one(sort of) . Last Nov. another Shimoda model 15, a Smolt, sold for over 3k. That Smolt is beautiful. Does anyone know anything about Tommy Shimoda, he was the armored for Honolulu PD. His work was very high grade. My model 15 is waiting for me at my dealers shop. I'll try to get some photos after I pick her Sat.

Congrats! I was watching that, but got distracted by work.
Saw it on GB completed auctions, she's a beauty. But it doesn't look like a Model 27 barrel, more so a cut down Model 19 barrel. Am I missing something?
I not sure, just got her home today and oh my what beautiful job Mister Shimoda did---WOW! I'll try take some photos tomorrow. I have a model 27 barrel and a 66-4 3" to compare with. The work on the model 15 very impressive and trigger is something I've never felt before, a pause just before a crisp let off. The best double action i've ever felt.

It would be very difficult to fit a N frame barrel to a K frame. Turning the shank down from .670 to .540 and threading it would be the easy part. Making the top of the barrel rib match the smaller frame a bit more. Milling the bottom of the barrel up so the extractor rod would clear, more work. But getting the barrel lug to match the rod from the cylinder with a much smaller cylinder radius would be nearly impossible
I believe it has to be a reworked model 19 barrel. Way more do able. You could take about 3/4" off the muzzle of a 4" and a 1/4" off the back tread on more threads, trim the shank and redo the forcing cone and hit 3" I have also cut down extractor rods and knurled on new tips.
