The SD statement says that the claims of Biolabs in Ukraine are lies by the Russians.

U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland is saying that there are biolabs.

Victoria Nuland admits Ukraine has biological research facilities - YouTube

Yes there are biolabs, everybody has them. It does not mean that they are labs for making weapons. The Russian accusation is that the US and Ukraine operate them as weapons facilities. That has been denied.

The United States does not own or operate any chemical or biological laboratories in Ukraine,...

Still not seeing the problem.

Fact - The Russian government lies.

Fact - The US government lies.

I believe what I'm told to believe. Don't you?

Frankly, I see some lab in Ukraine as no more than a red herring.

At this point, nobody needs a lab; the only thing that is of concern to me is that the Russians have biological and chemical weapons, have used at least the chemical kind in actual conflicts from Afghanistan to Syria, and I don't see Putin having scruples using them again.

I am schooled enough to know that everything I've haven't heard about is just stuff I haven't heard about because, shockingly, it's a complex world - there are lots and lots of things I know nothing about (and never will if they are outside my professional field).

Try reading the document at the link I embedded above, then research the CTRP online. You'll quickly learn how very little you know about the topic and program.

I'm simply pointing out what she said in a congressional hearing. She said what she said.

Again, I believe what I'm told to believe, just like you, apparently.

It's not about what I'm told to believe, it's about who I think is more likely to be the bigger liar in the total context of the current events. My judgement is that the balance of probabilities is highly weighted to the Russians telling far bigger whoppers than our State Department, despite the latter body's well known abilities on that front in advancing our country's interests.

JMHO (and worth exactly what you paid to log on today :D)

I edit because of poor typing abilities caused by a specific neurologic condition in my wrists. Thanks for caring.

Should you want to check, simply look at all of my posts - I doubt you'll find any without edits.

Sorry to have somehow offended you.

Me, calling it a night, makes you think I'm offended? Really!?

I'm calling it a night because I have stuff to do before it gets too late. And I still work so....

I'm offended that you think I'm offended! ;)

Anyway, you all have a good night.

Okay, friend, you've made your point...several times.

We've got a really good thread going here, and I'd like to avoid having it closed again.

Watching the news coverage of this story since it broke, I've been struck by the competence and courage of the reporters covering it.

A mortar round landed across the street from New York Times photojournalist Lynsey Addario and videographer Andriy Dubchak the other day, and killed a family. Despite being in a state of shock, Ms. Addario kept shooting photos, even as she repeatedly uttered the four-letter word I think most of us would be using in such a circumstance. We know this because Mr. Dubchak kept recording what was happening.

Two British journalists for Sky News were shot by the Russians.

CNN has had its people on the ground in Ukraine, rotating in and out, even before the shooting started. Clarissa Ward, who apparently speaks Ukrainian, has put herself in harm's way several times, as has Nick Payton-Walsh, whose intense style of reporting is very compelling.

One of the reasons we know what we know about what's going on in Ukraine is because these journalists and their colleagues are committed to getting the story out there, for all the world to see...may God bless them and keep them safe.

Looks like even Congress agrees on something.

The House passed legislation on Wednesday to ban imports of Russian oil and authorize further sanctions, following a similar executive order from President Biden.

Lawmakers passed the bill on a bipartisan basis, 414-17. Only 15 Republicans and two Democrats voted against the bill.

Aside from banning the import of Russian oil, the legislation also sought to limit Russia's access to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and reauthorized legislation that enabled sanctions on human rights abusers.

I wish Mike Adkins (shouldazagged) were alive to read this as I am sure he would quote and applaud it.

Mike's father was a well known war correspondent that landed at Omaha and stayed in the ETO until the war's end. Mike said that it was people like his father that put themselves in harm's way that gave the folks back home a clearer understanding of what was transpiring.

I have learned much from this thread.

How long to hold out?

I just cant imagine being continuously bombed, no power, no water, limited food, no heat, snow in the forecast and -4 with wind chill?
I don't care how tough you are, that's not sustainable! Nobody wins a war in those conditions.

That big convoy sitting on its buns all this time in these conditions cannot do much for its fighting efficiency...let's hope. :D

The France24 website has some very good fact checking on videos. What they turned up on that car vs armored vehicle incident was very interesting.

It works both ways. Being sent to kill unarmed civilians, while you have inadequate logistical support...and being in an army that abandons its dead on the battlefield...can't be good for morale.

No Russian conscript will ever fight as hard to take Ukraine as the Ukrainian people will fight to keep it...
