I see on a current thread here and on many others that the 3" k frame is the perfect "carry" gun. My question is, who actually carries theirs? Pictures are always encouraged. FYI, I own a 65-3 3 inch.

I occasionally carry a 3" K frame in a TT Gunleather KX Lightweight IWB holster in town. Other times in a shoulder or chest holster when hiking with a pack. The most part, I switched to appendix carry around town and not have anything that works with a 3" K frame. But, I agree 100% that it is a fantastic carry gun. Will try to dig up some holster pictures later.

I do. Here's my lowly 64-3 wearing a set of Herrett shooting stars and resting on a simply rugged sourdough pancake. I usually carry it "crossdraw".

OP, as you said pics are encouraged. I'd love to see your 65-3. :D

I stopped carrying them quite some time ago, when the three variable/lines crossed negating my interest in doing so. The three lines were value, capacity and weight, a polymer auto wins all three of these variables, IMO.
Capacity - a no brainer 6 versus 10/12/15 (pick one)
Weight - again, no brainer, the polymer autos are lighter and "less bulky"
Value - 3" K frames are getting more and more valuable and harder to find in "collectible" condition while the polymer auto is a "throw-away"...

Just sayin'

I am a 3" K Frame carrier and user. At present my only three. The M-66 was a grail gun but I found I preferred my original M-13. It just seems to be the best to handle. It has been shot so much that the trigger is really good. All three have been machined to take full moon clips. The M-65 us my BBQ gun. I usually carry in a Lobo Gun Leather or an old Rob Baker pancake that I also use for my 2.5" M-19.

Those 3 inch K'S are very neat, the closest I can come is 2-3 inch 36's.Thanks for sharing and I will definitely add 3 inch k when I am able to.

I like a lot of different barrel lengths for their aesthetics.

But does a 3" K really carry much differently than a 4"? I feel like the challenge with holstered revolvers is the butt and the cylinder.

They are all" RB's which helps, and I find the 1" significant, and the difference from 2 1/2" to be significant when the 3" is fixed sights - with the 3" being more compact and despite the 1/2" longer barrel, seeming smaller than the M19 and M66 2 1/2".

Very different when trying to clear a holster when seated. One has to think these things through. Lots of guys on here think they know all the whens, whats, and that they'll have time to be cocking hammers adjusting sights and other BS when the time comes. I see the 3 inch as a fighting revolver and the one inch does make a difference to me.

I agree with Smith nut. I don't carry a K frame anymore, sold them all at a profit, except a post war pre model Target Masterpiece 38. It stays.

My carry guns are a Sig 365XL and a Kahr pm9. I love to shoot Ks and my favorite are L frame 44s ie..... Model 69s I have one of each. At 75 much easier to pack an L frame 44 than a N frame.

My 3" model 10 is a square butt revolver.

To me, it's not so much easier to carry, but the 3" balances and points so much better. I care more about the "feel" of a gun rather than the name on it, number of rounds it holds, or the caliber. Just my opinion.

Ha, I missed the opening quote key in my post though I managed to hit the close quote key. It should have been ..."all" ... rather than ...all"..., since you can never say never and never say always with S&W.

Is yours a 3" from the factory? What grips to you like on it?
