Any Corvette owners?

I have not. We have some club members who just bought C8s who are going in a few weeks. Well worth it from what I hear.

I have not heard one bad thing about the experience.
Booked late Sept, figuring the heat my have gone down a bit by then. But it’s dry heat in any event ;). Two nights on the grounds then off to Caesars for 3 nights.

And then there were two. These cars breed like 44 magnums. :D After months of searching I found this shiny magnetic red ragtop 02 with 27000 on the odometer. I think it pairs nicely with the 75.

Nice 2002 red roadster ''75''. The caliper RED doesn't quite the the body RED:eek:

I had a 2000 T-Top Millennial Yellow.
It was and has been my favorite car.

My best friend Ken had been battling a terminal disease for a while. His medication was expensive; he topped out his insurance, sold everything he had, used up his savings and could no longer afford his medications. He moved in with his brother.

I sold my corvette and sent him the money for his medications.

We enjoyed each other's company for another 1.5 years. During that time he was comfortable and passed without pain. I have no regrets on selling the corvette and would do it again in a heartbeat.

Ken had a very diverse interest in all things and live. Some were a little questionable, especially his pets. He talked me into playing with one of them. I did not want anything to do with it but finally gave in.

Photo of me and one of his pets. It was kinda cool that they fluoresce when exposed to black light.

You can see by my expression I was really thrilled :-)

Ken, I always miss your companionship, weirdness, humor and company.

I had a 69 427 4 speed roadster that I ordered new. Fathom green, white convertible top, black leather interior. My every day driver for many years, also raced it in SCCA A Production class, had lots of fun in it. Stolen in 1996, never recovered. My favorite car, still miss it. Had a few others, too, including a 66 427/450 horse roadster, a 67 327/350 horse coupe, all 4 speeds and great cars, plus a 78 L82 with a Turbo 400 aytomatic, referred to as my imitation Corvette, and a lousy car from every standpoint. I dont dare look at a C8, as I know I'll want one, and I'd probably run it hard and lose my license.

These are all scorchingly beautiful. I’ve never owned one. I’ve driven two of them.

This is not a Corvette forum and I’m not trying to sling any mud, but do any of you Corvette guys DISLIKE the 1987 with the dual-range 4-speed manual?!

My buddy had one and I drove it multiple times and I didn’t understand that transmission — it was strange. And if memory serves… that was the only year that a Corvette failed to be “the fastest American car”, my guess is because of that transmission.

Any thoughts? I’m sure this is an old discussion in Corvette circles, but I’d like to hear. Was that transmission a total dog or was it some misunderstood pure genius that only the hard drivin’ animals could wrangle?!

That was the “Doug Nash 4+3,” a four-speed manual with push-button overdrive in the top three gears! I knew a couple people that had that car.

I did get a chance to drive it a couple times way back when. They had had many problems with it. It was far from the best idea that Chevy ever came up with. Sort of Chevys Edsel!

My one friend after the warranty was over was so mad he traded it in on a Shelby and has been driving Mustangs since. My other buddy bit the bullet and had his car converted over to a 5 speed normal type transmission.

Can you imagine being the exterior design team that was told to make the '66-'67 Corvette better looking? I'd have to have sought new employment.

Only the early '60s Vettes impress me, but not enough to own one.

I agree for the most part, but now I'm seriously considering the C-8 now for my "retirement" car instead of a Roadrunner?
Better than a Ferrari in some ways! Maintenance, just run it down to the nearest Chevrolet dealership that works on them, simple and painless.

Here’s my seventh Corvette and…

…it is by far the best edition ever…IMHO, of course.

It’s a 2022 Z51 convertible with just about all the available options including front lift, mag ride, and many more.

Very fast yet very drivable. It is a great car for roadies. :)

Be safe.
