Hate to see it, but I'm sure they just want the taxpayer funded incentives, and Dodge is the brand they sacrifice for it in case it doesn't work out.

Stellantis already has hybrids in their stable, that's nothing new, but now they want to go full EV by next year and these cars will be Dodges.

I know, they showed the full-EV Chrysler Airflow Concept a few months back, but the Chrysler boss lady said it's not destined for production. Why, I have no idea...

So if you still want a Hemi Charger or Challenger, 2023 is the year to buy one. If you are lucky to get one and if you are willing to pay the price, dealer markups and all!!!

Honestly, I like the face of it and I wouldn't even care about the hybrid 4banger engine. But for the life of me, I can't stand these cross-over models :barf:

I want a sedan, station wagon, suv or pick-up truck. Not these in-between-don't-know-what-it-is ugly things...

They did the same thing with Maserati...called the Grecale. Instead of another 2door coupe or a full-size suv they added a mid-size cross-over thing.... so dang ugly... and honestly, too small for a family of four or five (almost no space for luggage, just like in a sedan, so no real advantage besides looking like a bloated dolphin!). Really don't know what their target market is... singles or couples with no taste?

I don't know if the brothers would approve. All I know is that America is (still) getting Euronized. Back in the day we had unique styling, powertrains, etc. and many people in other countries were jealous that they didn't have it (incl. me), but now the European styling is coming to us, and I don't like it! If I want European styling, I'll buy a European car. It's that simple. Can't figure out why they can't hire people who love American designs. And, to top it off, the Hornet is made in Italy

I'll open a go fund me to buy the Dodge rights from Stellantis, because in all reality, all they need to do is slap an Alfa or Fiat logo on there. It has no character and it's so sterile, at this point it could be anything...

That's terrible news, The Charger/Challenger models are cars with timeless appeal. They probably would have sold for many years had they been continued. Now Stellantis, an unwieldy conglomerate company with a meaningless made-up name, is going to replace these classic cars with yet another boring, characterless, and ugly "crossover utility vehicle". Your "Barf" is most appropriate. I fear Stellantis may become the British Leyland of the 21st century.

There are a bunch of reasons why CUVs work:

1) Folk like to sit higher, but don't want/need a body on frame 4x4 truck or SUV with their iffy handling, so-so brakes, monster weight and poor gas mileage.

2) CUVs are easier to get into. There are not as low as a sedan nor do they require the mountaineering skills needed to access many pickups.

3) CUVs are generally space efficient. More volume than a station wagon or a body on frame SUV and you don't have to bend down (wagon) or lift up what you are loading.

4) Yes, I've heard all the "They can't tow, they can't do proper offroading" comments. The truth of the market is that very few folks do either of those things.

5) Why are they called Crossovers? Because you cannot use the word that properly describes them as it is verboten in the mass US market. That word is Hatchback. Yes, I said it out loud. They are all large hatchbacks. There you are, I said it again.

Now barricading the doors to repel the Big 3 hit squad on its way for the use of the "H" word.

My son has a high end special order Challenger from about 2007, I think. I don't actually know much about them, but I know it has a big engine and I know it will lay a strip of rubber in its first four gears. It was a little scary, in fact, last time I was in it. I bet the value of that thing took a jump today!

as far as I'm concerned Lee Iacocca still owes me a pair of walking shoes.

While I still have little faith in the brand, they have been trying to atone for the K car. Now they can never complete the journey to absolution.

I'm not sure which term carries the most stigma.

Station Wagon says "practical vehicle with no charisma owned by your parents in 60s and 70s" (Ford Country Squire), while hatchback says "dumpy, cheap and nasty, under powered vehicle you were forced to drive because of gas prices" (Dodge Omni).

I have a 2012 KIA Sportage Turbo CUV that has been a perfect vehicle. The only thing that it can't do compared to my '97 S10 Blazer is tow. I never towed anything with the Blazer and the KIA has 100 more HP and half again the gas mileage numbers. As said above, it is easy for me and my 82 year old Mom to get into and out of from the medium height. Has decent ground clearance, drives like a car more than a truck and has handled anything I have needed it to do. If I need to haul something too big for it there is always Moms old Honda Odyssey. Pull the seats and it is huge inside.

Had a car with a Chrysler transmission back in the 70s. Put 125000 miles on the thing and had to rebuild or replace the transmission 5 time about every 25000 miles. I will never have anything to do with a Chrysler product unless they cut me a check for about $5000 including interest. Then I might think about it. As for electric cars I am tired of everyone trying to shove them down our throats. If someone gave me a new $70000 electric car of any brand I would drive it as far as the closest Toyota dealer and trade it for a new Highlander or some such.
