I went to the home improvement store and spotted gallon cans of non-ethanol 4 cycle gasoline for lawn and garden equipment for $25/gal. It supposedly had some proprietary additive too, but, $25 a gallon? I have a local station that sell straight gas or around $6.
I guess old P T Barnum was right.

I use that stuff for my weed eaters and chainsaw. It's as good as advertised.

Way too expensive for what you get. I have many 2 stroke tools and toys. They all use the same mixture percent! I get NONE ethanol gas add two stroke oil and some stabilize, much cheaper!

Because I live rural and no way of knowing what will happen next I keep a few 5 gallon cans of that none e gas with stabilizer in the back garage. (I do rotate my stock to keep it fresh.) When I need to make up 2 stroke mix I just grab a can and make it up 2 1/2 gallons at a time.

My lawn mower, grass blower, trimmer, and edger have recharge batteries; never had a problem yet. And they all last until I'm done with them. If they have gas there, that means there's a market for it. I could see a lot of that going out the doors of the Orange store close to my neighborhood. Lots of young blood and too much money around now. I bet they even have to read directions when they buy something!

I use a $10/Qt diesel additive in my Kubota (1 oz per gallon, a bit more in the winter). I get way better life out of my filters and it run greats with it. But, $25.00 for non-ethanol gas is steep. I use non-e pump gas, a bit of Stabil and 50/1 Stihl mix on all of my 2 stroke chainsaws, wacker, trimmer, blower, etc. I choke them to a stall when I put them in winter storage. Never had an issue.

I store several 5-gallon containers of non-ethanol gas ahead of hurricane season, adding some stabilizer and Marvel Mystery oil into the containers. I use it in my generator and any other small engines. After about 90 days, I dump it into my vehicles and fill the containers with a fresh batch. Battery life is too short and replacement batteries are too expensive--when they can be found--for my liking, so all battery-powered tools have gone to the curb.

Some of the 2 cycle (when they're still available) tool makers now require the use of their special blend premix to keep your warranty. I do believe all my stuff is out of warranty, and even if it wasn't I couldn't afford to keep the chainsaw running on that stuff.

The non-ethenol stuff is great........I mean the stuff you get at the gas station for about $5 a gallon.

I use it recklessly........letting it sit around for months and failing to drain gas tanks seasonally--no stabilizers added and I still have no problems.

Had many problems with regular gas before switching to no ethenol.

BUT, be assured..........nobody needs the overpriced scam stuff they're selling in stores.

You and my gardening-mad gf, who could have a second job as a local rep. for Stihl battery-powered gear :) She just recently gave me her old Stihl gas-powered weed-eater, which also has a second shaft & head for a blade. I have 2 Stihl chainsaws as well.

As regards the ethanol-free gas, Stihl does recommend using it in their 2-stroke gear. I put Sta-bil in it. I probably should also keep it in a military-spec canister, but so far it's been OK. I do keep 5 gallons of regular gas in a mil-spec container, though. A neighbour up the street bought a Honda invertor generator for emergency use, but has has about 10 regular gas canisters stacked outside for it . He rotates the gas by using it in his truck but all that gas sitting around would make me nervous. We have a local manufacturer of approved steel tanks for gas and diesel.

Diesel for my old Onan emergency genny, is in a 20 gallon steel tank, with Stanadyne added. I use the tank to fill 5-gallon canister to fill the tractor and excavator.

Wouldn't Stabil mixed with gas do the same thing for a lot less money?

That stuff just lets gas stay in the tank for a year w/o going bad.

Motors, new & old, still need a 40 or 50:1 ratio of 30 weight oil
or what the maker calls for, to keep the motor from seizing up.

My old McCulla chain saw likes a 40:1 mixture.

Murphy gas stations around here sell it and I put Stabil in and it's good for a year. Works for me

The stuff I am referring to is 4 cycle straight gas not the 2 cycle premix.

I use the pre mix fuel because I know it's always fresh, no ethanol, higher octane and the correct oil/gas mixture. Expensive, yep, but my usage usually doesn't exceed a gallon during the summer. I haven't had any problems with my equipment since I started using it. One trip to the repair shop makes that gas look cheap.

Just to make you cry:-)

I do not know about other states; 3 years ago in FL at the gas stations you fill up your pickup, SUV or auto there is often a pump for the old time Regular Gas, I presume it is still available at the gas stations.

I was told this was for boat owners.

Do not know if you have to show proof of boat ownership or not.

As I recall it was the same price as unleaded.

Now that I think about it, I wonder if you can get Regular at Marinas?

Check the big box store's prices on kerosene if you want another shock. I double the amount of Sta-Bil used in cans and have used gas almost 2 years old. The big generator runs fine but the small Honda does not like anything added to its gas.

Wisconsin has non ethanol gas for whatever you want to put it in. I use for pontoon boat with a little Stabil. Works great .No marina on lake so unsure. A few cents more than Ethanol

Around here, QT, BP, and Shell have non-ethanol available. It's priced like premium.
