Aluminum Frame M&P9 M2.0

Looking at the pictures . . . an optic-ready pistol without optic-ready ("suppressor height") sights that will co-witness with a red dot? Bad call, S&W. For roughly 50% more than the equivalent polymer M&P, that's a miss.

Once S&W works the bugs out of their 10mm M&Ps, a scandium framed optics ready version in 10mm with suppressor height sights and threaded barrel would get my attention, especially if it came with a factory Apex trigger. But for right now, I'll pass.

I think we've hit Peak Plastic. There are so many plastic striker-fired guns in the market place that it's becoming boring.

Smith, first with the CSX and now this thing, thinks they've found a differentiator.

We'll see if it works.

I think we have hit peak everything. Sales are declining after the nervous urbanites armed up against mostly peaceful protests and covid zombies and the companies are scrambling for the novelty market.

Heavy guns are popular in USPSA and are slopping over into the general market with things like aluminum M&P, steel Walthers, and all metal Wilsons.

I'd buy one in a heartbeat !! Smith perfected aluminum frame guns with their 4076, 1076, 4006 aluminum beauties from the 80's and 90's..

And besides.. It's a Smith.. what's not to love.

It never ceases to amaze me that the first complaint is about the trigger even though they haven't held/tried it. Most of these guns are for protection and plinking. If you are a competition shooter then you are going to be making a ton of changes yourself or go for a PC gun. Give it a rest already. Smith makes good guns. If you want something better then spend the $4k for a Korth or whatever.

Those you listed are all steel frame guns.

Was there ever a 4076? Maybe you meant 4026.

The 3913, 5903, 4003, 4013, were all Al. The only Al 10mm is the converted 1013/1053 that the homebrew guys did.

Edit. Lots of others I didn't list.

I tried the CSX which is supposed to be single action. It is worse than the M&P 2.0 DA triggers. That was a miserable fail. Hopefully this new one will have a good trigger.

I see the new trigger as saving $100 on an Apex. The apex I bought sucked.

Having been completely satisfied with my original Pro Series M&P I didn't know until this thread that the 2.0 version has the blade in the middle of the trigger, instead of the original pivot trigger.

I've learned my something new for today, now I can shut down.

Maybe you did not get it installed the alloy apex trigger correctly or expected to much if only a trigger !? I don't think the new m&p trigger is any real improvement over some 2.0 old style triggers for smoothness and pull weight but we do have choices .
My lastest M&P PC 5" 40sw has a great stock trigger just under 5lb but smoothing pulling .

My observations not posted:

Improved front slide serrations, no improvement on slide release that needs more "metal" and no option for safety for those LE Departments that prefer safeties.

The MSRP of $900 could be its down fall ?

I'd buy one if it DID have a safety. I carried 1911s for years and while yes I do currently carry a Pro CORE without a safety I'd go for one in a heartbeat.

Problems were 2-fold. First, the apex trigger hit the frame thus preventing the gun from firing, and secondly, the safety plunger was too short thus preventing the gun from firing. I had to file the frame to achieve proper clearance for the shoe and use the factory plunger to get it to fire.

Threw in a Timney Alpha and wow.

Of course they come out with a metal-framed version now. I bought the Performance Center 5" polymer CORE version with RDS a couple of months ago. Just my luck. :(

Compact Metal Frame 2.0

I find the aluminum frame 2.0 very interesting, looking forward to seeing a Compact 15 round 4 inch 2.0 aluminum frame with manual safety, which would be my preference, so would have the same grip size and manual of arms as my current polymer frame 2.0.

Kept saying to myself do not need another M&P, why does S&W keep having to do things like this :)
