Concealing big guns - how?

Started out carrying a 2 1/2" Model 19 or Colt Commander...... still carrying things like a 3" Model 66, Beretta 92 Compact/Centurion...... but mostly S&W 3913 and 6906 size guns.

I think the race to ''teeny tiny" carry guns seems to be coming to an end with the introduction of guns like Sig new and larger 365s!

OR, a variation seldom used, I call it the Mexican Shoulder carry, works pretty good if you don't move your arm much....

One thing I learned is to stop trying to hold your pants up with a belt while carrying a heavy handgun. The boys in the past used suspenders and they still work today. I got a nice pair on Amazon that hooks on the belt loops of my dad jeans. I still wear a belt, but it doesn't have to be super tight and it is just there for holster attachment.

I have to employ shoulder holsters to carry bigger guns. I've got no hips and a flat butt so heavy guns are constantly trying to pants me. I've got a barrel chest so no issues concealing as long as I have an appropriate cover garment on.

I have had to quit due to a bad back, but an N frame in a IWB with pants a size bigger can easily conceal a 1917 with a t shirt, Hawaiian shirt or jacket. A set of Perry suspenders helps so you don't have to cinch as tight. I'm hoping to be able to do this again once my back heals from surgery. Grip choice makes a bag difference. Use the smallest grips you can use and still have control of the gun. When you are wearing a shirt loose enough to conceal the grip ( a pattern helps) you can also conceal a reload with the correct keeper.

Sorry about the pic location but it is the only one I have. I went from 201# down to 170 to accommodate the CZ P07. An XL shirt over and instant "homeless chic" fashion. Been working for 40 years. Joe

I am short (5'5" on a good day), chubby (sadly), and small of chest and shoulders. I carried a S&W M27 Classic in a cross draw holster once, on a cross country trip, and I covered it with a jacket and it was fine, but I probably won't do that again.

I have carried a 2.5" M686+ in an El Paso Saddlery shoulder holster but it wasn't my favorite thing to do.

This was funny!

I have done that more than once inside my house with various guns, including large home defense guns that I never carry otherwise.

I use that exact holster (in black) with my 3.5" .38-44...It rides high and tight...Conceals nicely under my S&A vest......Ben

Everyday kinda carry for an N Frame 44 Special

My Sunday go to meeting rig...

Concealment of an object, any object is more than covering it with a outer shrouding.

I have found that when one unintentionally draws attention to the object,
by adjusting it, touching it and or other signs of uneasiness, it's a purty darn good give away.

So, don't do those things…and another thing, most folks don't have x-ray vision, so just relax.

I have an old leather Don Hume inside the pant holster that actually fits all of my large 3rd Gen autos and that's what my Shield Plus rides in as well. It was a ebay score for $9.99 and free shipping.
It was so cheap because it was for left handed person. I took it to the local show repair guy and he moved the metal clip to the other side to make it for a right hand shooter.
In the summer I wear a tee shirt untucked and it the winter when I am feeling like packing something heavy I wear a sweatshirt.
This holster even fits my Glock 34 MOS 5 gen...LOL

Here is another good holster for a 4" N-Frame (Here holding a 25-9 in .45 Colt); a "Hank Sloan" made by Doc Barranti. Carries tight to the body and feels great.

IIRC, Ive seen them but does yours have the S&W logo?
