Concealing big guns - how?

I have pocket carried my L frame. But it is a 386pd. On my belt is easier. An N frame can easily be hidden with a large shirt. Whether that kind of weight is comfortable depends on the person and how it is suspended. A good belt and a pair of suspenders make it a breeze.

1) Good IWB holster
2) Pants at least a couple of inches larger to accommodate big gun in IWB holster
3) VERY stiff belt to support big, heavy gun & IWB holster
4) Loose untucked shirt, sweater, vest, or light jacket to serve as cover garment for large gun in IWB holster.
That's all I've got.
Personally, I don't try to conceal a large gun. My Sig P365 gets the job done for me 99% of the time.

I carry a 3” 686+ now. I use to carry a 2.75” Model 66 that someone liked far more than me and made me an offer I couldn’t turn down (bought the 686 from the proceeds) it’s carried in a 1791 Gunleather RVH2 holster with a good sturdy belt. My normal attire is jeans or shorts with a fishing shirt untucked.

4" round butt N-frame like a Mountain Gun isn't too hard to conceal...

I use a DeSantis Speed Scabbard and cover garment, shirt/vest depending on the weather.

Others have mentioned Kramer and I concur but OWB for me at 5’9” 180. Carries comfortably but at least at my size you know there is an N frame on your belt. A good gun belt is also critical either IWB or OWB. Suggest Beltman, Hanks Belts, Kramer double thick, etc but many out there.

I work hard to stay in shape. I'm in my mid 40s and have noticed that those who have a gut or struggling to fit into clothing will have a harder time concealing. Even more important is investing in a proper belt/holster. I don't cheap out on those. Wearing a coat or jacket helps too.

Below you will see how I conceal carry a Ruger Redhawk Alaskan. I keep it loaded with 44 SPL.hp.

As I said earlier I wear suspenders to balance the load. My revolver is a model 57 4" that carries well in a Kramer horsehide vertical belt scabbard and since I'm getting older and strong side draw is a problem, I carry the gun weak side almost under my left arm and cross draw. I find the gun conceals well in Summer under a loose fitting shirt, shirt tail out; in Fall and Spring under a down vest; and in Winter under a down vest inside my top coat. Since I'm in Maine I do layer my clothing to stay warm and that obviously slows my draw time but everything is a a compromise. Over the years I've had excellent luck with Kramer horsehide products.

A lot of overthinking going on here. You can conceal large handguns easily with three steps.
1. Get a holster and belt combo that will hold the gun and your pants up securely.
2. Wear a shirt or jacket that covers either the bottom of the holster for OWB, or covers at least the waistline for IWB.
3. Most importantly stop worrying about "printing". Most people wouldn't notice if you had a civil war cannon strapped to your back. Let alone be able to determine what that slight bulge is under that random passers-bys shirt...

For me, Barranti Leather’s Summer Classic IWB, spare ammo carriers, and a good gunbelt make carrying an N-Frame concealed quite doable. 4” 27-3 shown holstered, with Summer Classics for 27s in 3-1/2”, 4”, and 5” also shown.

I would say a shoulder holster for several reasons. One is comfort.
Two is you don't tend to "telegraph" you're pulling it out. Think about it. Trying to get a gun out a belt holster requires a lot more movement of lifting your shoulder up and tilting your body to the opposite side.
Now think of trying to do that while your belted into your car seat.

Before I switched to the P365 for carry, I used to carry a 4¨ 686 which is a pretty large and heavy revolver. I carried it in an outside the waistband holster on my strong side, simply because inside the waistband would have been miserable. I was able to conceal it pretty well, but I admit that there was a reason I switched to the P365 as a pure carry gun.

To answer the question, the easiest way is with a tall and slightly bigger untucked button up shirt. I bought 5 Hawaiian shirts that were tall size for more length (key) and XL instead of my usual large. This seemed to do fine as I have close family who hate guns and never noticed it being around them all the time. It can be done, but you have to dress around it for sure, and just be aware of where it is for hugs and such if around anti gun folks.

Or you can buy a dedicated carry gun and leave the big boys for the range or bear country/camping when you can open-carry. That is what I did, but to each their own.

I can carry mid-size Glock (19,32,etc.) or CZ PO-1 and the like with a proper appendix carry holster. This is typically neutral cant, kydex, wing or claw attachment and maybe a wedge. Sitting, standing, driving, all very comfortable. Could probably carry a 3” K frame appendix if somebody would make a decent AIWB holster for it. No special cover garments, just an untucked polo or similar.

Although N frame, can’t say it’s a big gun is one way that helps.

Not to derail the topic, but do you mind me asking who did the conversion work on the revolver? Looks great.

I've carried a 6.5 inch M27 on my hip with just a suit coat for many years. During the winter long coats make it even easier.

1911 in a shoulder rig is always easy.

I've carried a full size M&P .40 or SIG P220 Carry for years concealed under only a dark colored tee shirt or untucked button down by using a Crossbreed horsehide Super Tuck.

A Galco CM126 will conceal an N Frame with round grips under a tee shirt pretty well also.
