Ahrends are still popular, just not as much as they were while he was still making them. I like them, have two pair, one with finger grooves and one without, for K-frame. I also like Herretts, I think I see two sets in that picture, lower left in the first pic.

Good eye
There's actually 5 sets in that corner
3 shooting masters a set of troopers and a set of thumb rest targets
Any thoughts on value of the arhends

I'm a fan of Herrett's Shooting Star stocks. They look nice and fit my had well.

I bought the two (1 smooth, 1 with finger grooves) here in the classifieds, for $100 each, in August 2020. After that, one pair on ebay, for $70 (traded those). All K-frame. I have seen them for between $80 and 150 on ebay. More for Ahrends bood grips, which seem to be less common. I don't remember difference between K and N. There is one seller that always has some for sale, about $100 above what everyone else is selling them for (!) I have not checked GB lately.

The Troopers look cool!

Hey Rodbuster, You have quite the collection of grips there. I have a good size box of grips (and holsters) as well, and I reckon alot of other members here do too. :D I really liked the craftmanship and feel of the Ahrends grips. It was sad to see Kim close shop. I just happened to special order a set of natural & black stained Maple target grips from them for my two 44 Magnum Hunters before they closed. I've never felt the need to put rubbers on before shooting either. They're a perfect fit for my XL hands without being bulky. I also like the Hogue wood grips. I think I actually shoot better with the wood than the rubber. Never had the pleasure of owning a set of Herrets though.

Grips/stocks

i'm a sucker for pretty grips. i've got some Mother of Pearl, stag, gigged bone and even have a set of ivory.

my hands are worn out enough that i do the rubber if i'm going to shoot much.

some nice looking pics. thanks to all for sharing.

I have found some of the Thailand makers are turning out some very nice products. I have numerous sets of their version of our checkered targets and combats and every set fits and looks great. Below are four photos of S&Ws wearing them - the ones on the 629 are very dark and their figure just doesn't show up well in photos.

I've sort of fallen into the Thai grip groove myself. I especially like their very dark rosewood that reminds me of ebony… they look great on stainless guns.
Oddly enough, Later, on eBay, I also found a similar pair marketed by Charles Daly that went together with the Thais quite well. Second picture l to r - Chas Daly J frames, Thai rb J frames, Thai Sb K frames.

I really would put altamont roper style grips on all of my K/L frame guns. Just feels perfect and Hanes recoil so well.

I'm kind of partial to Pachmayr. Especially the compact for J frame sized guns. Yes I know that they make them a little bit big for pocket carry. though doable. I think the same about J frame in general. A bit too big for pocket carry but doable in a pinch.

OP you have a nice selection of grips! I have Herretts also along with Grasshorn, BigMtnMan, Hogue, Bear Hug, etc. I have two sets of Ahrends that Kim made for me out of American Wormy Chestnut wood that came from an Amish chicken coop built in 1910. A friend in Minnesota bought it, had it disassembled and the wood planed and built his kitchen cabinets with it. He sent me the scraps to use for knife handles. The wood was so dry it was hard to work with. Kim said he would never make another pair out of the wood. Collecting grips is just as addictive as the guns !

For me, it depends on the gun. On a Colt SAA I like Ivory (can't buy that anymore) or Sambar Stag. On Old vintage Smiths I like the Diamond Magnagrips. While I am not a fan of rubber I will admit they do reduce the felt recoil of Magnums better.

What - no Spegels represented here...???

Can't talk about aftermarket grips w/o the Best out there... :)

Here's a few pics from the past....

Craig Spegel sets the bar mighty high. I believe I see his in that last post.

Herrett's Jordan Troopers ring my bell, too. 500 ES & 627 snubs.

Like Spegel, Karl Nill (Germany) knows it's important to cover the full back strap on a Centennial.

Smooth grips are pretty to look at but just a dab of Bar-BQ sauce and they can get slippery. I hate rubber grips but they probably are best all round grips. I can get by with checkered wood.
