I picked this one up a number of years ago.
Hadn't taken any photos of it, until tonight.

Anyway, here is a beautiful specimen.

Correct box.
Correct stocks.

All matching.

Enjoy,

All the tiny 'white' specs are from my old rag. Should have puffed them off with my camera lens 'puffer'. Ha I never remember to do that until it's to late.

S&W K22 Masterpiece

I inherited a 6 in model from my dad in 1984...he asked me to never sell it...I pawned it a few times when things got tough but ALWAYS redeemed it...still have it almost 40 years later...this is a gorgeous specimen my friend...first 'short' barreled K22 I've ever seen...

That is a great example, I picked on up early last year but it is in a plain grey box as shown below:

If the link works!

Yours is a very fine specimen.

I would be interested in knowing what year yours shipped.

Being a five screw in a 'proper' length box shows that S&W made provisions for a correct box before the four screws were shipped.

Let us know if you will.

According to the S&W Catalog 4th edition it shipped in 1953.
I have SN 1814**, a 6 inch, NIB unfired since the factory.

That one right there is just purdy....

My guess is those stock medallions are bare steel and will stick to a magnet?

I am in awe, gorgeous. I DO find it comical that a 22 caliber weapon is considered a combat firearm. Yes I know about the Masad...

i brought up the same idea a while ago and AJ reminded me how common 22 caliber weapons were in our military after the 1960's. Not so much in 22 LR.

Regardless, that K22 CM is a beauty.

The K22 Combat Masterpiece was not associated with the military, but rather was developed as a training aid for target shooters and police. One could shoot hundreds of rounds for practice for the cost of one box of 38 Special match ammo.

The last paragraph of this 1952 catalog section describes the K22 Combat Masterpiece. The K38 Combat Masterpiece was made for law enforcement and the 22 version was meant for practice.

K-22

What's the current price range for the K-22? I'm interested in finding an earlier serial number with 6" barrel, in very good condition, maybe 80 to 90% ? I'd like to find one that could be plinked with, not a "never been cocked" specimen, and don't need a box or any of the other fanfare, but will welcome those goodies if they're available.
Thanks for any help or advice that may be given!
Jim
