So, this NFL season is over in Pittsburgh, no playoffs to be embarrassed in! So, at 9-8, some fans and many of the local talking heads are actually happy that Super Coach Mr. Mike Tomlin finished with another non-losing record. We used to have a pretty good Pro Sports fan base here. Now, with much of what has been happening in society has spilt into pro ball of all sports in general and many of the older folks don't even watch football. Enough on THAT subject.
I find myself hoping again for Cinci to get a Lombardi this year. Good Luck Bengals. (I can't believe I actually said that but I mean it.)
Here we go...!

I would have been happy to see the Steelers in the postseason. But when other teams control your destiny, especially when one of the teams are the NY Jets, you're bound to be disappointed.

Ditto the Detroit Lions. I always root for them, the perennial underdogs.

Both the Steelers and Lions had winning seasons, and I think both will improve next season.

That said, if the Bucs and Cowboys fall in the 1st round, I'll be happy.

After that, I really don't care who wins.

Since the proliferation of legal sports betting, the NFL has become nothing more than a roulette wheel. Watching a football game these days reminds me of watching Jai Alai. Add to that the players association having a say in how teams operate and there's not much difference watching the bad teams and the good ones. The next thing to be prostituted will be college sports.

I'm a Steelers fan, have been since the late 70s. My older brother is a Cowboys fan, so naturally I picked the the Steelers as my team. It was quite exciting to see him shred his Roger Staubach poster after Pittsburgh beat his Cowboys in the Super Bowl in '76 & '79. I have lived in three different states, KY, OH, and TN, and there always seem to be lots of Steelers fans.

From what I hear, over & over by the brain dead TV announcers, the Steelers have a very large fan base, pretty much all over the place. Somebody needs to remind the world that the '70s are over! We did have some good football, all teams, back in the day. I remember Kenny Anderson getting knocked out of the game 3 games in a row. 2 one year and 1 another. Same Bengals picked up Bradshaw and literally dropped him on his head, like in wrestling, only real! Buffalo, Cinci, and Kansas City this year will fight it out for AFC title.

The Lions haven't won a championship since 1957 and I'm not holding my breath... I've learned to never underestimate their ability to get my hopes up and then crush 'em like a bug.
You have to understand the mentality of the owners of the Lions to make sense of their record. The Ford (yes the car company) family owns them and the mentality over the past several decades has been to never over invest so long as the box office was making a profit. The newest member of the Ford Family to take control of the team, Shelia Ford Hamp, may be shedding this line of thought. As witnessed in the past two seasons, the Lions are making an earnest effort to built a team that could become contenders. As a life long resident of SE Michigan, and thus a Detroit sports supporter, I hope they continue on the road they are currently on and don't get constrained again by budgetary / meddling decisions.
