On Monday, in the "Random Photograph" thread, I posted photos of a sperm whale that washed up on the beach about ten miles north of here. It was the fourth beached whale I've seen and the biggest.
Well, a couple of days later, another whale washed up, about 200 yards from the first! This one is a small gray whale, about twelve feet long.
I know what some may be thinking, and no, this isn't some weird marine event. The sperm whale was killed by a ship's propeller, and they think the small one may have been stillborn.
And coincidentally, a third whale washed up on the beach in southern Oregon this week also. They suspect that one was killed by orcas.
