A classic vintage Smith for sure!! One of the best looking handguns that S&W has ever produced. Although they are not very attractive, you will be glad you have those rubber grips on it after you touch several .357 rounds off thru it. Great handgun. Enjoy.

Cool gun!

I agree with swagmeister. I'm sure you can guess which grips I prefer when shooting! ;)

Nice! I actually prefer the pre-medallion Pachs on snub Ks. The 66-1 is my second favorite S&W revolver, picking up another in 4” next week.

Congratulations

I agree with the group that the lines and proportions of the 2 1/2" Model 19/66 are almost voluptuous looking.

Yes rubber grips that cover the back strap do make the firearm more comfortable to shoot with full power Magnum ammunition. The rubber compresses and allows the recoil force to dissipate over a larger portion of your palm. However, wood grips that properly fit your hand do much of the same thing

The old style Factory Combat grip does a superb job of spreading recoil across the palm of my hand. They are just getting harder to find in nice condition as well as more expensive each year

I had a 2.5" for years that I purchased NIB and carried for some time. I sold it to purchase a 3". I like the slightly longer sight radius and the longer ejector rod to kick out .357's.

Bought mine 34 years ago for ease of carry on backcountry foot patrols, and it's still in my carry rotation. You have a great defensive revolver.

Congratulations

I totally concur. I’ve started hoarding them.

OP, congrats on your find of such a desirable piece.

The K frame snubbies are some of Smiths most attractive guns in my opinion. They look great, conceal well and are great shooters.

Here’s my 66-2 that I inherited from my dad thirty years ago. I’ve never shot magnums in it and only shoot it for recreation with mild 38’s. I don’t have the box but do have the original wood grips but like the look of these custom stags.
