19-2 Grip Screw Repair

I picked up a nice 19-2 that appears to have had the grip screw over tightened.
How can I fix? Fill it with glue and clamp it flat until it dries?

May want to buy replacement grips to prevent further damage to these. I search for K frame round butt?

Who owned it prior to you - Magilla Gorilla? lol! Man, talk about over tightening! I'd get a hold of a hypodermic needle, fill it with tight bond glue and inject into as much of the gap as possible. Tight bond is super strong glue and as long as you can get it in between the wood, it should never break again! HINT: Wipe any excess glue off right away as it is much easier to do before it hardens.

At least it appears unbroken from the outside view - that's a good thing.

Yes, you should be able to work some wood glue into the break and than clamp the grip to force the wood back into position. You will need to use something semi-soft on the checkering side to prevent damage. Glue it, clamp it and remove the clamp and clean off the excess glue and than clamp it again. Shouldn't be any reason to buy new grips.

The escutcheon needs to be pulled back (to checked side) first before attempting repair.
