NYLON COATED BULLETS - need recommendations please

The Federal made 38 Spl +Ps with blue Nyclad bullets and nickel cases were issued to the FBI back in the Seventies. I still have a very small stash of them I keep for social work if needed.

Same here Chief but a few years ago I decided to go with copper plated bullets since I shoot a lot of 45 ACP. X-Treme BULLETS

I have been very pleased with X-Treme Bullets not only with 45 ACP but also 38 Special.

From what I have found the original "Nyclad" bullets were manufactured by Fiocchi. Later they were marketed by S&W under the S&W-Fiocchi partnership. When S&W stopped making Nyclad ammunition it was picked up by and continued by Federal. So far as I know Federal was the end of the line for Nyclad, Remington never had anything to do with it.

Maybe Chief 38's confusion comes from the fact that Nylon is a Polymer, one of many different ones, Rayon, Dacron, Orlon, Polystyrene, etc. etc. While Hi-Tec is also a polymer-based coating that is a polymer, it is not nylon!

Bayou Bullets was, I believe, the first to offer the Hi=Tek coated bullets. The company is owned by the brother of S&W Exhibition Shooter Jerry Miculek.

I was the original owner Bayou Bullets. I was also the original importer of the Hi-Tek coatings.
I sold the casting company about 6 yrs ago and the coatings company about 18 months ago.
Enjoying retirement for the time being.

You had a huge influence on shooting and changed reloading in such a positive way.
Once I tried Hi-Tek coated lead I was quickly convinced.

Nyclads....

...were ahead of their time but they weren't cheap. I'd like to see some tested in ballistic gel present day. But the design of having a hot, coated SWCHP is what I'd use nowadays if JHP wasn't available.

I think one of the reasons for the decline of the Nyclad bullet was the introduction, in the same general time frame, of the KTW(?) Teflon coated bullets that looked similar, and were referred to by some as "cop killer bullets" because of their advertising, and supposed ability to penetrate bullet resistant vests.

Back in the 80's when the Nyclad bullets were on the market I was able to acquire a few thousand of the bullets. I don't recall the load, (231 powder), but it was outstanding. Won quite a few PPC match's using them.

The original Nyclads were black. They changed to blue after the KTWs came out.
I still have a couple of boxes of each color.

If you get any type of accuracy in your target loads, great.

The thing I like most about them, is that they leave barrel clean up, easier, for me.

No copper or lead build up, any more.

Give them a try, I think you might like them, for practice.
