The ones that I had were green teflon coated. I believe the projectile was tungsten cored.

You and IM56F are quite correct. I checked my notes and the
Nyclad blacks started to get the "penetrator" reputation solely
because of the black nylon coating.
Federal switched to blue to make shooters think that the nylon
coating was benign.
I apologize for the misinformation.

I recall being able to buy bulk Nylon coated bullets at gun shows in the early 80's. I had several thousand of the 158 Gr. that were very accurate when loaded appropriately. Wish they still made them.

A little late to the party, I still have a box of the Federal Nyclad that was tucked away in an ammo box, debating about whether to shoot it-I have a whole bunch of Gold Dot .38+P so no need to load it up in the revolvers.

There isn't a price sticker on the box and of course I can't remember what I paid for it or even exactly when I bought it but it was shortly after Federal took it over lol.

I also remember getting those bullets too. A I remember they were in a blue box and they were cheap. I know I got mine from a wholesale distributor in New Jersey...Robert's Shell Co in Vineland...but I can't remember the brand name...something like Taurus but not just right.
