Hi guys

Served in the royal air force as an aircraft engineer on the Harriers. served 2000 - 2009. When I left one of the things i missed the most was shooting. found it relaxing where i can blank out the world.

only found out by chance that you can legally own a firearm in the uk about 2 years ago. joined a club and passed probabation. The club is very good and friendly, Yorkshire Shooting Center. Members are approachable and always ready to give advice.

Applied for my firearms licence which was granted. i now own a mossberg MVP 308 and last week bought a smith & wesson m&p 15-22 performance that was recommended by a member. wanted to actually buy a Tippmann but he convinced me otherwise. so far its had 50 rounds through it and it was fun. hitting the target at 50 yards with just iron sights.

i was a bit gutted what little you get in the cardboard box, the gun, magazine and a lock. thats it. i was hoping youd get more like the Tippmann. even a few stickers would have been nice.

in the next few weeks i intend to fit optic sight off the MVP on to this and buy an angled foregrip. anything else you guys recommend.

Very happy to see that you can own firearms again in UK. But I always thought single and double barrel shotguns were always allowed anyway. Or am I wrong?

Welcome

Welcome to the forum, glad you are able to enjoy shooting over there.

We could always own firearms but just need a separate license. It’s a more of a tougher process for firearms than shotguns. You can apply for both which a lot do here including myself. We can’t have full auto or regular hand guns. But we can have suppressors which is nice.

Welcome from Michigan. I would suggest you look into the Shotgun Sports. The UK has a schooling system and sporting ranges that sort of make the US look like a desert for Shotgun Sports. Look into getting a budget model Yildiz and get some lessons and you will find breaking clay targets is a lot more fun than shooting at targets that don't move.

That is awesome and glad you can own firearms again. My daughter shotgun coach is from Kent England but moved to Barbados where he set up his shotgun competition career and then came to America. Also welcome from Humble, TX

Welcome.

Googled your local club and found your excellent website. I am impressed and a wee bit envious.

Again, welcome.
