What are a shooter grade ( no box, rubber grips , few scratches , etc) 3 inch model 65 are selling for these days ? I saw one in perfect mechanical condition, some holster wear, at LGS for 700.00 Sounds reasonable? Gun is from early 80's.

That is a pretty good price. 3" model 65 prices have stayed up during the recent softness in the gun market overall.

As long as the M65 is mechanically tight and sound $700 isn't too bad. Most stainless finishes can easily be made to look almost new again at home in an afternoon. Just check it out THOROUGHLY as it is still a K frame and not meant for a steady diet of light weight 357's. If you don't know what to look for specifically, bring someone along who does! I'd hate to read about issues you found on it after looking at it carefully at home shooting it.

Oh my, today's prices! Anybody else recall about 2004 when CDNN had a bunch of these and 3953s for $300 each? I bought a 65 (can't recall what dash number) and have kicked myself many times for not getting a 3953 as well.

Gun Prices
I was wondering if it was just me but I have seen some softening also of prices on Gunbroker on nice Smith & Wesson Revolvers. The local dealers not so much. One local Guy has $1400 on a Mod 66 4" it's also a newer non pinned barrel & no recessed cylinder, no box, tools & only average condition. It also has a later site with the front base rounded rather than squared off so later than a 66-3. After 3-4 months it's still sitting in his display case. Also I have been noticing that the gunbroker dealers who have reserves on their guns seem to be re running them week after week. I hope the trend continues downward so we can get the Smith & Wessons we want to buy.

I noticed that when it comes to PRE LOCK revolvers , CONDITION often plays a huge role in pricing. LGS had an early 80's three inch 65 in LNIB condition that sold for 1k in less then an hour. I only notice that stainless 38/357 K and L frames with 4 inch or shorter barrels that are in excellent condition sell quickly and normally sell for good money.

If it is good mechanically you are unlikely to find a better price.
