This is why you don’t put 2A friendly and gun decals on your vehicle!

Come and get it if you're feeling lucky, PUNK! I fly Old Glory in front of my house too. Is that an indication I might be armed to the teeth, and have actually been shot at and have killed in the past? Could be. I'll let the criminals try to figure it out. I'm too old to be worrying what other people think, so I don't.

You can find antidotal evidence of criminals breaking into homes and vehicles that show signs of the presence of weapons. BTW, I have a sign by my front door that reads "There will be no warning shot. Ammo is expensive." Well, do you feel lucky?

Don't drink anymore but I'll still rase a glass (of kombucha) to you and my ancestors.

That is a real dilemma....

We've had a ton of guns stolen from vehicles in this area the last few years. Why would you leave a firearm in your unlocked or even locked vehicle? Take the thing inside! I got blasted for saying this some time ago from several individuals.

....for concealed carry. Sometimes you have to leave your gun in a car. If anyone has an inkling there is a gun in it it's almost a guaranteed target. I think that would have something inconspicuous like a paper bag handy, put the gun in the bag before opening the door and locking it in the trunk.

So much is aimed at discouraging concealed carry. Finding work-arounds is vital.

An inconspicuous, quick-to-open-and-close steel lockbox cabled to a seat mount bolt works well if you mostly use one vehicle.

You've missed the point. No one who is not drunk, high, enraged, or mentally ill (all bets are off with these folks) will attempt a robbery of someone likely to be armed; they'll wait unseen until you leave, then burglarize your home, car, or hotel room.

When you're gone is when they'll, "...come and take it."

I don't believe I have missed anything. There is not a scenario I have not considered, whether it's drug crazed lunatics or sly burglars. They take their chances, I take mine. You take your chances being exposed to some smally with an AK. Determining whether my Vietnam veteran bumper sticker or NRA decal is a deterrence to criminals or an invitation to them is neither here nor there to me. I'm not going to waste my precious time worrying about it. I am going to continue to be me, and I'm an old Boy Scout. Be prepared, for anything.

We are all making decisions.

In the modern world, terror group members (.."..smallys?" Really?) with AKs are not primary terror threats; the deadly threats are IEDs in cars or motorcycles, on roadsides, under believers' clothing, or on drones; then come misappropriated or hostile-actor-donated military rockets, missiles, and grenades.

Things change over time.

I was using the vernacular from 1993. Pretty common term then. I was on active duty at the time.

I didn't make myself very clear in my post. Most of the firearms stolen are stolen from vehicles where they were left in them overnight, not while doing business or in places where a firearm was not allowed. If I do have to go in a place like that the gun goes in the gun safe discreetly under the seat with the cable attached to the seat bracket. It may not stop a determined thief but it could slow him down enough to think twice about wasting that much time. No firearm is ever left in a vehicle overnight.

I just saw that my neighbor on the other end of the cul-de-sac had his truck broken into. He has NO stickers, decals, signs or flags. Go figure.

That seems to be the case around these parts.

I've seen dozens of videos posted on Nextdoor , of thieves trying door handles, and if the vehicle is locked they move onto the next.
The ones they break glass to get into have cell phones or valuables laying in plain view.

I don't have stickers of any kind by choice, I like my cars "clean".

I'm selling a M&P15 Sport to a good friend at work tomorrow. We decided to go to one of the "Green Safety Zones" on our campus to do a car-to-car transfer, with a check and a printed receipt. I'd rather it be under video, than in a sketchy neighborhood street. And everything is in sealed boxes and locks applied.
