S&W Rebate Update

Got my rebate today. I love it. Since I traded a gun I never used for my Shield Plus, the total on the bill was $0.00. And I got $50 card. The question is ammo, or Outback. GARY

S&W rebate center must be overloaded with forms. I sent mine in o 3-21 and it’s still saying “Your rebate is valid and is scheduled for final processing.”
The first rebate I sent in I received pretty quickly.

If you looked around on the web for the lowest prices and then add the rebate it was by far the best deal out there while it lasted.

I couldn't be more please with this rebate program. My first rebate card was in my mailbox about 10 days after I submitted, and my second card took 14 days after submission online. Not bad at all.

Agreed. I added two more M&Ps to the family and got them both for under $400 each when all was said and done. That's including tax, shipping, and FFL fees. Can't beat it.

Still waiting for my rebate from 3-21.
I called the rebate number last week and talked to a guy that could barely speak English. He said it was mailed out on the 23rd. Just called again today and got a guy that could speak English and he told me it wasn’t mailed on the 23rd.what a joke. My first rebate I received fast.
He told me it was in review, but couldn’t tell me why. From day one it showed online that it was a valid rebate.

97 days later and I finally received my $100 rebate card.
It only took 7 calls to the rebate center (3 people I talked to could barely speak English), two online chats with the rebate center, one call to the card center, and talking online to 2 different S&W employees.
Anyway, yay.

Smith and Wesson declined my Shield .30 Super Carry rebate. It was a covered model and I sent the required documents electronically. The first rejection said the name of the seller wasn't on the receipt - which it was at the bottom. I phoned to get clarification and was told to get something more descriptive. I won't go into all the back and forth, but I sent every piece of documentation to them from the vendor's email confirmation to the aforementioned payment validation from the vendor's website. Each time getting an email declining my application. I was finally told I had to have "store receipt". I reached out to the vendor who responded quickly with an email stating the person sending it had a pleasant conversation with Smith and Wesson and outlined what I needed to send back to them to forward to S&W. One additional requirement was demanded by S&W. A pdf form outlining the FFL transfer info including a signature from the dealer. The dealer filled the form, added my transfer fee receipt, the form they got when they received it and the barcode label they use to log it to their inventory as a paid for item which included the vendor, my name and the model and serial #. Even added their business card. Sent that all to the vendor and waited along with a copy of my CC statement with the seller's name and payment. S&W didn't send me any thing after that, but checking their data base it stated it was denied. Instead I received and email from the vendor stating they were crediting my CC for $50.00. That was on Thursday so I called to speak to the representative who had conversed with S&W, but they were not taking calls. Called again this morning and the recorded message was still the same regarding calls. I got notice today the $50 was credited to my CC. I have no idea what or if S&W responded to the vendor after they forwarded all docs to them. I am definitely going to find out when their business slows down some. I have applied for two other gun rebates in the past. One for SCCY by mail and one to Stoeger all electronically, both were accepted. I saw some posts calling S&W rebates scams. I'll leave it up to you decide. But it very much reminds me of the old rebate requirements companies used to deny them. something wasn't circled, didn't use uppercase letters to fill the form, etc. Now for the best part - I get to tell who the great seller was that graciously refunded the rebate amount. None other than a good old Texas company Grab a gun dot com. I hope I can get in touch with the young man who helped me to get some details on S&W's response and when I do I'll report it here.

I had the same experience with the rebate back in August,-- denied by Smith & Wesson Rebate Center twice, after sending everything that they asked for (twice), which Grabagun had sent to me. I did not pursue it any further, just chalked it up against S&W, because I was going to buy the gun anyway, with or without the rebate (the three magazines), and I did not expect or want Grabagun to take up S&W's slack. But I will not pay any attention to, nor give any credence to, any future S&W rebate offers. I will buy more guns from Grabagun.com.

I purchased a "rebate-eligible".40 cal S&W M&P 2.0 Shield from Grab-a-Gun in early December. Since I live only 20 miles away, I drove to G-a-G's store to pick up the pistol (saving the FFL transfer fee). I processed my S&W $50 rebate immediately upon returning to my house. All went smoothly and I received the S&W $50 debit card in the mail before Christmas. After factoring in the FFL fees and shipping costs I avoid by purchasing from G-a-G, G-a-G is typically the lowest, or among the lowest priced retailers for the guns they carry, so doing business with them is a no-brainer for me.

Once upon a time, Cheaper-than-Dirt was also a low-cost seller - for both guns and also ammo. But C-t-D "lost its way" early in the great ammo drought and have never regained price competitiveness.

Good-4-Guns (aka G4G) - in Anna, TX (15 miles away) is also a low-cost seller of firearms, but they are a "short-liner" and don't carry as broad a selection of weapons as does G-a-G. I bounce back and forth between those two retailers, depending upon the weapon I want to purchase.

YMMV

Sorry you got taken, too. I did some further research and discovered S&W originally never mentioned the necessity for an IN STORE receipt. The mail in form doesn't mention it nor does any other information page or e-doc. However I found a link with in a link today to the rebate that I am almost sure was modified, because it after you drill down it has the stipulation added IN STORE receipt in uppercase. The verbiage in that link was like a footnote. I also saw one reference that there was an update to the rebate on Dec 4th. Not cool to entice someone in November to buy your product and change the deal. Total scam in my opinion and I am very seriously considering sending it to the Texas Attorney General fraud department. That stipulation is in total conflict with the mention that online, phone orders are allowed. You'd have to be a moron to think an online purchase would have an IN Store receipt and that anyone would pay for a gun, have it shipped to an FFL would acknowledges receipt and transfer and not be the purchaser. I wishing I hadn't bought an M&P FPC folding carbine from them, several 9mm Shields and three Body Guards. I am going to post on the other forums I'm on about this treatment by S&W. I stiil can't get through to Grabagun, but I ordered some ammo just before posting this. They are good folks that I have done a lot of business with as their refund shows. When I talked to Grabagun I only asked if the could send me a paper receipt, never expecting them to contact S&W much less take up the slack as you said. That was completely unexpected and I replied to the notification I got they had done that, but got no further communication from them.

I have to relay my experience with a company unlike S&W that goes beyond the pale to fulfill their rebate offer. I purchased a SCCY DVG1 9mm for a truck pistol. The $50 rebate offer was mail in only. I sent all the required material, one of which was the actual box end cut of the box. Luckily I scanned everything. I sent it certified mail with return receipt requested. Tracked it all the way to the local post office out for delivery. It never arrived. I phoned SCCY and a very nice young lady informed me she had received other similar complaints. Long story short to this already long post, She had me send all the scans to her and I got my rebate for the pistol.

Sounds like the PO that serves SCCY has a rotten apple in it.
