In deciphering the grease penciling on the bottom of the box, I'm guessing "OSS" is shorthand for "Over Size Stocks"......Ben

It's stamped Mod 27...No dash...I posted a picture inside the yoke, but my cellphone has its limits......Ben

Thanks, I'll try to get the letter request transmitted tomorrow...There are no rework marks anywhere on the gun...It should clean up nicely in Dunkin Gunwash...SCSW4 talks of scarcity with the 4-screw no-dash and 6 1/2" barrels, so I'm pleased to find both......Ben

Those stocks look like rosewood non releived target like I have on a Rex Firarms pre 27 pinto. Stunning acquisition!

I would call them rose wood!! Not that I'm an expert in wood at all.

I would think that non relieved target stocks would have disappeared by the time the model marked guns arrived. Be that as it may, it is one gorgeous Smith!
