NRA Chief Wayne LaPierre to Step Down

Joining the NRA, Now!

I am not here to recruit new members but will state that I have been an NRA member since 1965 when I had to have my commanding officer sign my application to become a Life Member of the NRA. I have nothing that will add any facts concerning the NRA, I'm presently a Benefactor member with three grandchildren as Life members. I'll not defend or condemn the organization but will say that the NRA is a prominent player in the defense of our Gun Rights and I have too much time invested to abandon ship now.

My wife booked us tickets to Dallas for the show. I haven't been since it was in Orlando, 2003 if'n I recollect. She will spend her time with friends since she grew up in both Dallas and Ft Worth. I'm hoping to be among friends too. Looking for a reason to go "Benefactor" membership level. By the time we get back I should know. No comment about Wayne, only met the man once coming down the express elevator in the World Trade Center in 1997. He did take the time to chat with my son and I. Joe

I've been a member since 1979, and stepped up to Benefactor over the years. I stood with and for the NRA, even after they deserted whole segments of gun ownership (under Wayne's leadership!) I'll be glad to see our friends return now that someone might listen!

I've never understood the internal squabblings and external animus to the NRA. What little I know about the NRA indicates that Wayne and his cronies were lavish with NRA funds. It is of course true, as for all organizations that handle a lot of cash. Leaders feel entitled. That said the NRA's abuses pale in comparison to criminal conspiracies like labor unions (public and private sector), grievance pressure groups (i.e. BLM), elected officials, government bureaucracies, and sadly, all too many mega-churches. Far too many ride chauffeured limousines from opulent offices to private jets to conferences in Las Vegas.

Abuse in other organizations does not excuse the hypocrisy of LaPierre's personal greed, the misuse of member's contributions, and the damage he has done to the NRA. Apparently with the ongoing support of the Board of Directors. Second generation Life Member here I will wait to see what happens next before they get money from me.

Well, the haters of the NRA, refusing to join or rejoin, because of Wayne, now have no excuse not to be a member. There are other great 2A groups out there, but none have the clout of the NRA.

I think I'll suggest a new fund raising campaign for the NRA called the QMRS membership campaign (Quitters Membership Renewal Surcharge). It's an extra 10 bucks to renew the membership of the quitters who bailed on the NRA during a challenging time.

As an over 40 years life member and a strong supporter of the NRA I cannot say I am sorry to see him go for many reasons. However with him being charged by that rot of an AG in NY I put little stock in the veracity of the charges.
I would also remind all the haters that no matter who is on trial one is innocent until PROVEN guilty. If found guilty by a jury well then let the chips fall. Until then do not convict by opinion. 2 cents

As If We Needed Another Reason To Cause Descent

Bekeart

Once I am convinced that things have REALLY improved I will post my NRA status.
