Maybe just a little balance interjected ?


An excerpt concerning how the anti's inflate the numbers-

"The differing totals can lead to confusion about the number of school shootings. In the hours after the mass shooting at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida on Feb. 14 2018, Everytown for Gun Safety, which tracks every instance of gunfire on school grounds, tweeted that it was the 18th such event in 2018. The tweet was retweeted more than 800 times, prompting the Washington Post to note that only five of the 18 instances occurred during school hours and resulted in injury.
Dr. Lacey Wallace, Penn State University assistant professor of criminal justice, told NBC News that broad definitions create inflated shooting totals, and inflated totals lead to public fear."

Just my observation and opinion, but pushing agendas and propaganda from news organizations is poisoning our system and jeopardizing freedoms.

Numbers. We have infinite numbers and can create infinite statistics to create what we want. They need to get into the demographics, the parallels, etc., etc. I learned all this watching Criminal Minds so it's true! Every news outlet has its own agenda, sadly. Whatever the viewers want to hear, the sponsor$, blah blah!! Ain't it a shame?!
 
Watched the NBC Republican primary debate. Hafta admit it was the best run debate i saw this year. Felt i could see the moderators holding their tongues deliberately. The rest of the televised debates were nothing but under supervised food fights, and appeared to be designed that way (imo).

It isn't reasonable to expect any individual to be strictly non-biased, but outright and deliberate lying needs to be called out more.
 
Same thing applies to the term "Mass Shooting". In many cases its a matter of somebody getting pissed off about something, pulling a gun in a crowd, but is a bad shot and hits several bystanders unintentionally. But because three people were shot, its classed as a mass shooting.
To me, a mass shooting is where multiple victims are targeted and shot on purpose. Not some drunk indiscriminately blasting away in a crowd.

Exactly ... as is implied by the groups very name.
"everytown" produces an image of broad based support while "safety" invokes an aire of noble intent.
Actions speak louder, but will only be heard by those willing to do the leg work to seek it
 
NBC, (and the others,) don’t even try to hide their biases.

Every time Lester Holt comes on after the local news I either change the channel or turn the tv off. After he unabashedly stated, (March 2021,) “I think it’s become clear that fairness is overrated…. the idea that we should always give two side’s equal weight and merit does not reflect the world we find ourselves in.” WHAT ??? This is his actual position and it’s supported by NBC.

He made this statement when accepting an award at the 45th Edward R. Murrow symposium. Unbelievable that they are actually awarding what is basically a propagandist.

I am disappointed in the media, but I am ashamed of the general publics apathy and willingness to swallow whatever drivel the view or MSNBC etc. spoon feeds them.

The majority are too busy worrying about their immediate personal needs. There is truth out there if you are willing to seek it out.

Our population has become so spoiled, lazy and egocentric it's all about what's in it for them likes etc.

Look at China putting Tik Tok out there, but in their own country they limit kids to just 40 minutes a day.
 
Other than local news in our sparsely populated large region I don't watch news on the tele. If there is something to see my bride calls my attention to it.

I read, on-line, two news outlets, Fox and NBC. I am looking for a balance. So I look at two politically separated outlets hoping to find truth somewhere in the middle.

I am conservative, but more centrist that extreme right. Fox is losing me, although not so much due to their stance. Recently, when I key on some of the Fox news articles, there is window blocking access unless I submit my email address. I can see no benefit for me in doing this and the potential to be flooded with even more garbage. So I never do it. I just go to one of the other news outlets and find the article there.

Fox, in my opinion, is just shooting themselves in the foot. If they want me to get their viewpoint, they are failing in that when I go elsewhere to find the same article, albeit with a different slant.

If this keeps up I will give up on Fox and stick with two of the major networks, again seeking balance. Right now it is NBC, because their format is simple, but if I drop Fox then ABC or CBS will probably get a test.

CNN and MSNBC are just too far out.

Have taken to leaving comments on their facebook page with close to same message, repeatedly. Will still watch their shows i like, but getting tired of them demanding an email address to read their online news. There are other non-left news sites.
 
It has been years since I have watched televised news or opinion broadcasts (cable, network or otherwise). My BP thanks me.

I am content to get my news fed to me by cyber print and old lady Wilson across the street.

I try to be at least as smart as a ruminant and spit out the sticks and swallow the hay.

The media definition of a child is one who is less than 25 years old. This way they can include all of the gang banger shootings as "incidents involving children and guns."
 
We can all recall how covid deaths were calculated and given to the public. If you died from any obvious cause but, had covid, you were a covid death.
The MSM just regurgitated those numbers without question or fact checking.
School shooting and gun deaths are the same thing. The examples are glaring, incalculable and disgusting.
 
To the anti-2A folks a home invasion robber killed in self-defense by the homeowner is a victim of gun violence; a sexual predator killed in self-defense by a rape victim is a victim of gun violence; a terrorist killed by law enforcement while murdering hostages is a victim of gun violence.

They also like to apply federal youthful offender system standards for victims and offenders; up to age 26 is considered a child.

There is very little objectivity in published works. The rhetoric ranges from wild exaggeration to huge overstatement to bald-faced lying. The "scientific studies" and "public opinion polls" are bought-and-paid-for conclusions, created to support the narrative.

Sometimes I just want to load up some hundred some bullet clips for my semi-automatic assault weapon and blow some lungs out, know what I mean?

The press and media is selling what the advertisers are paying for, plus a lot of both are owned and controlled by the people with the serious money. That is part of the application of modern capitalism. Those same people don't want the masses armed and the average IQ in the US is under 100. How hard is it to convince most of them to buy what you want to sell?

On New Years Eve 12 midnight one of my extreme idiot new neighbors from Chicago stood on his back porch and fired 102 rds of 9mm into the air. He fired 17rds twice using a spare mag. Then he reloaded mag one and two 2 more times and fired them. This went on 40ft from my house. I picked up on many more idiots firing 5 shot revolvers and reloading them several times. The end result was the pawl of smoke from burnt powder and the copious amount's of skunk smell from marijuana they smoked gently wafted thru the neighborhood to welcome the new year.
Obviously nothing to do with school shooting but this type of careless disregard amounts to the same lunacy that causes so much grief for responsible gun owners.
